Parent Child Dialog2 builder saving?

Hello.

I am still getting used to AlphaFive terms.

What I am attempting to do is this:
I have a parent table and a child table on the same screen/form. I want to enter information in the parent. Pass some information from the parent to the child (example: company ID) and then enter information in the child. Then save the data entered in the Parent and the child.



I am able to save the data in the Parent section, but not in the child section (I haven't figured out how to pass the "company ID" yet). How do I tell the screen/form to save the child section?

Please post a screenshot of all of your databinding settings and a screenshot of your "afterDialogValidate" server-side event. Then someone may have enough info to help you out.

Click on your "ExecuteServerSideAction("Save Data::Save_Submitted_Data_to_Table_s_")" and go up to action scripting and pick "edit action". Please post a screenshot of that as well. You'll definitely want, show debugging checked in there so you can see what happens when you try to save the record.

Here's a look at my data binding on a similar table but with two children in repeating sections. It might help you out. Mine works, anway....haha. I'm not an expert on this but now that you've posted all that information someone should be able to help you out. My guess though, is that it has something to do with how your table is set up and auto incrment primary keys.

Could you try building a simple one from scratch and see if you can get it to work?
Create the tables first and make them like this:
Mastertable--UNIQUE ID FIELD, datafield1, datafield2, datafield3, etc...
Childtable--UNIQUE ID FIELD, Mastertable UNIQUE ID FIELD, datafield 1, datafield2 datafield3, etc...
Be sure to set up your relationships on the SQL side (Key from master table is FK for child) (you were using SQL right? )

Now, create your dialog. Just make a new blank one.
Go and add your controls....just click on a control type like textbox and then click on populate from tables. Do the same for your child table.
Make sure all the bindings are right and then do the other stuff

See if it works. Starting with something simple usually helps.
