Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Javascript caching

    Definitely some similarities here Terry.

Jim - tried your suggestion, but no effect. I tried it on the following events:

    beforeAjaxCallback
    onRowFocus
    onRowSelect
    onRowRender
    onGridRowCheck

Here's a thread that looks to be on point, but I'm not sure how to implement any of the suggestions. It's a couple steps outside my learning circle. Anyone have some guidance?

        Re: Javascript caching

Although not technically a bug, I think it's time for Alpha to step in and add what's needed to their AJAX callback implementation to fix the Safari issue. With the big push to mobile this should be high on their list.

I think the problem is in the initial call backs, when the dialog is first loaded and when the grid in the dialog is loaded, and I haven't found a way to inject anything to those initial calls.

So I wonder if there's anyone who's reviewed the StackOverFlow thread and has suggestions about how to incorporate any of this? FWIW, one of our guys installed Chrome for iPad and tried the offending component that prompted all of this, and the problem was not apparent.

This appears to support the premise that the issue is with Safari rather than iOS6.

Kind of one and the same as you get the updated Safari with iOS6. You're not given the choice to not update Safari.

                    Followup to this:

For a couple weeks now, everyone using my app on the iPad has been using it on Chrome for the iPad instead of Safari. This has solved the behavior problem that raised this thread.

Just heard from my client that additional issues have shown up on his production system with Safari 6.x on a Mac desktop. He tried Firefox and it works fine. He is really bummed out about having to use a third party browser. Steve, have you communicated this to Alpha?

                        Re: Javascript caching

I think Alpha Software knows about this. But I don't think the problem is at the A5 side. As I noted in this thread, developers of other products besides A5 have been having the same troubles.

Dunno if Alpha developers want to figure out what's going on and accommodate the problems or not. But I'll bet it doesn't fit very well on their plate. I wouldn't blame them for saying that something like this may have to wait.

Steve, the latest iOS update for the iPad fixed our specific issues. Hopefully you find the same.
