Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Re: How do I save the data from an Unbound Grid

      I just put this in a button on one of my grids ( you can see the field name is different ) I also added a period zero because it's 8:56 by me. It worked perfect.

      Code:
      var rowNum = {Grid.RowNumber};
       var vPeriod = '';
       var currTime = new Date();
       var hours = currTime.getHours();
       var minutes = currTime.getMinutes();
       alert('NowTime: '+currTime+' Hours: '+hours+' minutes: '+minutes);

      if (hours==8){vPeriod='0';}

      if (hours==9){vPeriod='1';}

      if (hours>=10){vPeriod='2';}

      if (hours==11){
       if(minutes<=20){vPeriod='2';}
       }
       if (hours==11){
       if(minutes>20){vPeriod='3';}
       }
       if (hours==12){
       if(minutes<=20){vPeriod='3';}
       }
       if (hours==12){
       if(minutes>20){vPeriod='4';}
       }
       if (hours==13)
       {
       vPeriod = '4';
       }
       if (hours==14){
       if(minutes<=5){vPeriod = '4';}
       }
       if (hours==14){
       if(minutes>5){vPeriod = '5';}
       }

      {grid.Object}.setValue('G','PDNUMBER',rowNum,vPeriod);

        MMMM

        I attached it to a button and it worked fine but when attached to an event on the radio button I get the error above.

        Any Bright Ideas

          Re: How do I save the data from an Unbound Grid

          Is your control that is named 'PERIOD' a radio button control? If so, you probably need to use a different format to set it's value.

          //set the value in 'FAVORITECOLOR'. Assume that 'FAVORITECOLOR' is a multi-valued field (e.g. a Checkbox control or a Dropdown control configured to allow multiple values):
          {grid.Object}.setValue('S','FAVAORITECOLOR[]',['alpha','beta','gamma']);
          Notice that the fieldname has a trailing [] - to indicate that it is an array of values, and the values you want to set are passed in in the form of a Javascript array.

            It's a textbox and just accepts a number - the consequences is a radio button.

              If the texbox is set to a number type field, maybe it doesn't like that you are calling a number a string with how you are declaring the variable. Try taking out the single quotes where you are setting the variable in your if branches and at the top try var vPeriod = 0
              This is the only thing I can think of without you uploading an example component

                Will do but why would it be ok on a button click but not ok when it is setup as an event.

                  You're right. I forgot about that.
                  I don't know. It's getting to the point where, since we can't seem to reproduce the error, you may have to attach your component and a create table command for people here to play with.

                      Strange.
                      I just tried putting this into a textbox field's OnChange event on my grid:
                      Code:
                      var rowNum = {Grid.RowNumber};
                      alert(rowNum);
                      and it worked ok.
                      If you just use that is it ok?

                        mmmm

                        That was fine - it just doesnt like the radio button events as I tried the OnChange on taht and had the original error

                          I'm getting the same error with a radio button. I even tried putting the code into a function and calling the function from the onchange event.
