Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    grid - row onclick set value and then save

    i need to set a value of a field in a row when the row is clicked and then submit the grid to save the value.

    In the Row Properties - OnClick, i have this which is fine setting the value but im not getting the grid to submit. what am i doing wrong?

    Code:
    {grid.object}.setValue('G','STAGE',{Grid.RowNumber},'READ'); setTimeout(function() {{grid.Object}.submitGridPart();},1000);
    thanks

    Re: grid - row onclick set value and then save

    I'm not sure if it's the problem but try taking out the second to last semicolon.

    I was just working on something similar with a dialog component and having a similar issue. I'll check my code when I get in front of my dev computer. I did get it to work after some messing about.

    Part of my problem was I couldn't get the submit portion of my code to work in certain areas. For instance; it wouldn't work in a report action's "JavaScript to run after print". I wouldn't get any errors but it didn't submit either. Another thing that might work is to write code that clicks an existing submit button. You could give that a try as well.

      I'm afraid that wasn't the problem, it reported an error.

      in a dialog I have this working fine in an xBasic Function

      Code:
      	e.control.lead_stage = varStage
      	e.DataSubmitted.lead_stage = varStage

      	SetStage =  "{dialog.object}.submit(); setTimeout(function() {alert('The stage for this lead has been changed to: " + js_escape(varStage) + "');},1000);"
      I have tried this in an xBasicFunction in the grid and called it in the Row Properties OnClick but the value in the Row is not getting set.

        See my ninja edit above.

        I'll fire up a test component when I get to work and see if I can help you out.

          Re: grid - row onclick set value and then save

          Well, I've made it to work and tested this out on my grid. It works fine for me.

          Code:
          var testing = {grid.object}.getValue('G','PDNUMBER',{Grid.rowNumber});
          {grid.Object}.setValue('G','PDNUMBER',{Grid.RowNumber},'Test');
          {grid.Object}.setValue('G','PDNUMBER',{Grid.RowNumber},testing);
          setTimeout(function(){{grid.Object}.submitGridPart();},1000);
          I just set and reset the value. I found that if you don't do this it won't set the grid to dirty. So, if you were to set the field to the exact same value that was in it:

          Code:
          var testing = {grid.object}.getValue('G','PDNUMBER',{Grid.rowNumber});
          {grid.Object}.setValue('G','PDNUMBER',{Grid.RowNumber},testing);
          setTimeout(function(){{grid.Object}.submitGridPart();},1000);
          It wouldn't view it as dirty and the submit button itself would stay grayed out.

          I don't know if this is any help or has anything to do with your issue but, other than the dirty/not dirty thing I found, your code looks good to me.
