Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

                Hi Edhy,
So this mean you are using build 3381_4096? any issues so far?
Answer, no. But that does not mean I have tested every part of the program against every application I have on my machine. There could other parts that you use that I dont and give you a problem. If that is the case, take careful note and report it.

Found one! Just submitted this bug report for the 3381-4096 build:
When I tab into a field and start typing, the progressive edit combo lookup does not work. I have to click in field to make it work.

                        Hi Carol,

First, sorry you got a bug that affects your data entry for your users

There is a pre-release build 3384-4097 23-Mar 2013 7:28AM which fixes some issues with the Edit-Combo progressive Filter, of course don't know if that would apply to your case directly, but it may be worth to take a look at it http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/A...easenotes.html

Thanks, Edhy... so here we go back into the pre-release cycle that means 'we are not supposed to publish' but which we need because official release has a bug we need fixed. :) I have a feeling that progressive fix may not fix my issue so I'll wait a bit to see if Alpha replies to my bug report before I get caught up in the pre-releases again. I'm keepin' on keepin' on... smiling!

Anyone else have this? Customer came to me today, said he updated to this build, and is getting 403 permission denied errors all over the place. I narrowed it down with him, and found it happens when control is dirtied. With some further testing, I found that if I turn off the component security, the problem does not appear. Before turning off component security altogether I just tried setting one of the components (for a test) to Always Allowed, but that didn't do any good. Instead I had to completely turn off component security in the Web Security Configuration.

I can dig further, but this appears to be the culprit and wanted to check to see if anyone can confirm.

                              Hi Steve,

Today Always-Up just reported that my AWS stopped working and it was re-started. Looking at the logs I found the following entries:
                              a5w_error.log
[Mon Mar 25 14:02:53 2013] [Forbidden] (C:\A5webroot\bci\__a5RunGrid.a5w) Your security credentials do not allow access to this resource.<p>
                              Then
                              a5w_access.log
                              [25/Mar/2013:14:02:53 -0400] "POST /__a5RunGrid.a5w?__pageName=A5InternalPage&__fn=gr._a5_ajax&__gridFilename=StudentsSessionsGrid&__alias=TBI_STUDENTSGR_231131BOTR_R1G2&__unsaved=no&_isLookupGrid=false HTTP/1.1" 403 280
Are you getting the same errors?
