Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Does anyone know the method in which you can create a footer area inside a container?

    I created a ux component to use for a mobile portion of a web app. I have a single panel and inside of the panel I have a container control. I want a footer area but for the life of me I cannot seem to get a footer to stick at the bottom of it. Has anyone had any success with this?

      Yes I have been able to create a panel card footer. Did you enable a PanelFooter:Container and then insert a static text control for the text?

          Dave,

          I am trying to place a Welcome Message which should include the users name in the header of the ux component's panel card. I created a static text control and placed it in the header.

          HTML: <div id="welcome_message" style="TEXT-ALIGN: right; COLOR: #ffffff; FONT-SIZE: 10px; RIGHT: 0px">Hello:</div>

          I've tried placing this in every client side event that seems relevant but nothing happens.
          Javascript: $('welcome_message').innerHTML=SESSION.NAME;

          Also used firebug to see what A5 was naming the control and tried this as well
          Javascript: $('DLG1.V.R1.STATICTEXT_5').innerHTML=SESSION.NAME;

          SESSION.NAME is a published session variable. The variable does exist. I verified that by creating a text box control which it's default value is SESSION.NAME, the name appears as expected. I also tried using xbasic inside of the static text control. Hello <%a5 ?SESSION.NAME %> but I don't think xbasic is supported inside of the static text control in the ux component because it only displays the code as plain text when I view it via the browser.

            Can you include a page? That's what I do in the header of my tabbed UI.
            Code:
            <%A5 a5w_include("logged_in_as.a5w") %>
            Then, in that page you can display your session variables:
            Code:
            <%A5
            ?"You are assigned to the <b>" + session.group + "</b> group."
            %>
            Of course, I had set the session.group in the same logged_in_as page along with other variables since the page is always included in my application.

              P.S. YOu may have to change the type to label and the display format to: <HTML Memo> for this to work. Uhm....I'm not sure with v12 but with v11, in a grid, then you can put your code or include in the freeform template for the field in question.

                Jinx,

                Thanks for your response, I've used the method you've described in the past but I've been having some trouble with embedded objects in the new ux component/especially in conjunction with the panel cards/mobile side of V12.

                  Jinx,

                  What did work for me was creating a label and using the SESSION.NAME variable as the default value. Thanks for your feedback

                    Josh,

                    As a test, I added the following to the server-side onDialoginitialize and it changed the default text:

                    e.javascript = "$('DLG1.V.R1.STATICTEXT_7').innerHTML = 'Test';"

                    I also tested with a placeholder control and it worked too.

                      Dave,

                      Is there any reason that

                      $('DLG1.V.R1.STATICTEXT_7').innerHTML = 'Test';

                      should not work? Why do you need to proceed it with e.javascript = ?

                      I am asking just so that I can understand. I will see if that works for me.

                      Thanks!

                        e.javascript is used in certain xbasic server side events to tell it to output some javascript to the client side. It shouldn't be necessarry AFAIK, in a client-side event. Your html would need to be rendered first of course.

                          I don't have a OnDialogInitialize event in the ux component. Again, I am working with V12 and the new dialog component which is now called a UX component.

                            I see Dave, you are using a server side event. My apologies.

                              Is there no client side event that will work for this? Is the server side event the appropriate place to run this type of script?
