    Default "V-hosting" with A5 server (v10)

    Hi there,
I am currently running a few different applications on my A5 server. They are all in subdirectories and it's working ok:
    http://111.111.111.111/App1/
    http://111.111.111.111/App1/

We are trying to give each app a specific domain name so app1.mydomain.com and app2.mycompany.com. I can't seem to see a way to make A5 read the domain and point the browser at each folder. Right now it's starting to look like I need to run 2 separate instances of the server, but then I have to put them on different ports.

Is there some way to set up this kind of "Vhosting"? Can I run A5 under Apache, or IIS so I can use their virtual hosting ability?

Any one run into this issue before?

    Cheers,

    whiteatom

Here are instructions on multiple instances: http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/How+to...guration+files

If you cannot set it up, good use of a qualified consultant.

There's no need of a consultant - I am one, but this software seems pretty limited in its server abilities.

It basically has no virtual hosting ability. You can run multiple instances each with a unique IP address or search on reverse proxy in this forum for some 3rd party web server resources. Hopefully in a year or so we will run on native IIS.

Yeah. I was noticing a lot of chatter about that too. It would be nice to have A5 as a IIS (or ideally apache) plugin, because then it could be run alongside PHP, ASP, or other preprocessors in a proper commercial hosting environment. Been running IIS and Apache servers for a long time, but this is my first experience with A5. Looks like a good "in-house" product, but not quite ready for prime time for a web app. Hopefully they can get over that hump soon.

Thanks for the response.. I think we'll probably end with with the revers proxy solution as I can run it behind my existing apache install and not have to waste the IP.
