Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Printing all the days of the month when there are no records for all dates.

    week outlook 20130412 month.pdf
    HOS 201303 001.pdf

AlphaFour V8 working on moving to AlphaFiveV11 but still in the building. Im worried about the time it will take to get all the automation I built over the years in AlphaFour into AlphaFive. I have no JAVA, X-Basic skills at all! I drive limos and wait in parking lots and send txt messages for a living!

I have been working on this too long and so I need help. A want to print a report on Drivers Hours of Service "HOS". The days that the driver is off I need the report to say "OFF DUTY". A work around would be to make a new dbf and enter in ALL the dates for the month and put "On Duty" and "Off Duty" in the status of the day, BUT!!!, I am not wanting to enter in all the dates of the year or past dates.

I also want this for monthy reports that show "no trips" for future dates.

Thanks in advance for your help. Sincerely, Andy

    Hi Andy,
Welcome to the board. The posts that get the best responses include a screenshot and a sample of the data. Not knowing what you expect the report to look like leaves us guessing. Can you put up some samples for us?

        Hi Andy,

Do you have a Date field when the Drivers are On Duty?

No, I have a reserve.set that holds the trip information. Im printing from the commishs.set that is pulling the hours from the reserve.dbf and the drivers.dbf

              S e t T r e e

              COMMISHS -- Driver Commissions

              └───── TRIP_INV -- Trip Invoice
╘═════ PAYMENTS -- Payments for trips.

The weekoutlook report comes from the resrout.ser but pulls just from the reserve.dbf all the trips and dates we have.

              ├───── RUNTYPES -- Run Types
              └───── LIMOS -- Vehicle; Discription

I need to figure out how to make the report group on the days starting on the first day that falls into the first group? My problem is if there are no records the date is missing from the reports because I never entered in a trip/s on that date.

              Thanks for your help, Andy

You need reference to any possible dates.
In the apparent circumstances as I understand it you would find it easiest to base your report on a calendar table.
The table just needs one record and a date field for every date you wish to report on, this date links 1:M to the date of the reservation.

If I filert the resorde for Dirver_id ="001" ir knocks out the date on the report. In the report I made the group1 the date in the calendar? I attached two of the reports the first I ran no filters. the second I got only my trips ("001" Driver_ID).

I thought that porring a caculated field in woul help stick the date in there. NOT!

                    Without seeing your db,
Is include from parent set to "none"?
