Default V12 Security Framework & MySQL

Does anyone know if V12 will have any new features to manage the security framework in MySQL?

I've not had much success with it in V11 and have not wanted to spend much time messing with it until I see if V12 makes it easier.

I've watched all of the videos and can't get it to work.

Alpha's security has nothing to do w. MySQL security. But if you mean that you can't enable Alpha security you'll have to tell us what you did and how it's not working.

    Hi Peter,

I was't referring to MySQL security, sorry about the confusion.

I was interested in knowing if managing the security framework in Alpha will be any easier in V12. I want to be able to access/modify/create my users/groups from a grid instead of through A5 Developer.

I've tried following the videos (UX Component - Managing Data in the Security Framework) with no success.

I don't know about v12. I don't recall seeing anything about security in the v12 release notes. The v11 videos do explain it, but I agree it is a little difficult. I do remember that the sample security grid had either missing code or was incomplete at one point in time and you had to fix it manually. Not sure if they ever addressed that or not.

Note: I'm not sure what good it does to manage groups online. Only the developer can set group security in components and pages. So if you create a new group online, you won't be able to apply it to anything short of editing components and republishing. Of course, applying existing groups to users and adding new users you can do.

I didn't realize there was missing code in the sample... that may be why I had trouble.

You are right about the groups, I will manage those in the developer. Those will not change often (if ever).

I guess it is wait and see on V12....

Just got off the phone with Alpha Sales and they mentioned that V12 will have a lot of improvements in managing the security framework... sounds exciting!
