Using AlphaFour 1.1 in Windows 7 or 8

I have been using AlphaFour Version 1.1b in Windows XP for several years with no problem. Have used program since 1992 with earlier windows and dos operating systems. Printer is parallel port. Can AlphaFour 1.1 be used in Windows 7 or 8? Does it matter for Windows 7 or 8 whether parallel port or usb printer?

Windows 7 and 8 still have parallel port. most computers no longer have it. I an Epson parallel printer I got an adapter for and hooked it to a usb port if you run into a problem.

I do not think you are going to have a fun time with win7 and less with win8. I personally do not think v1 will go there.

I have installed Alpha4V4 that I was using in XP onto a Windows 8 platform within DosBox Mega-build (MB6) and I can run it full screen. I am also investigating DosBox as it has been modified by Taewoong and it seems to work. These two emulators work well if you need to use DOS in full screen mode. These emulators are supposed to support printing. So far, I have mapped my network printer to an LPT port and can print at the dos prompt but, not through Alpha4 --- yet. Let me know if you have any luck.
