Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Re: Newbie here looking for Help with Reports

      This worked perfectly in testing. I move the code, and it worked on the dialog execute. I got the report. I closed A5 saving. Now after opening it back up, I get this error when I try to run anything using

      dim options as P
      options.filter = "

      Everything else works fine, except setting a string to my filter. This crashes and I get no report.

      Error executing onDialogExecute event: Error executing event 'onDialogExecute
      Amyuni Low Level Print:
      Layout name: Product
      Layout type: report
      Variable type mismatch: Cannot assign data of type 'C' to variable of type 'P'.

        Can you post your full procedure code? It sounds like an initialization issue of some sort.

        Also, what happens when you completely close your browser, then restart the app?

          dim options as p
          options.filter = "COMPANY = 'T-VIN' and STOREID = 'T-VIN-0001' and INV_CATEG = 'DVD' and INV_U_QTY >= 3"
          options.order = "INV_U_QTY"
          report.saveas("Product","TXT", "", "","C:\Users\s.hackleman\Desktop\Qty.txt",.f.,.f.,"",options)

          I have Isolated it down to this code, I have rebooted my computer, tried multiple browsers, even started a new test project and no dice.

            Re: Newbie here looking for Help with Reports

            Look at the last section of code. .f.,.f.,"",options

            I would try changing the second .f. to a "". That was what worked for me. I think it's unclear from the documentation what this is supposed to be.

            It looks like you too my recommendation of changing null_value to .f. instead of to "".

            If that doesn't work, try deleting the file that you created - it could be a permissions issue. (ie: You can write, but not overwrite.) That would explain why it worked once but not a second time.

              Tried it, but that didn't do it. Also tried changing directories and checked permissions. Still getting the same error.

                Re: Newbie here looking for Help with Reports

                Just to be clear:

                Is this something that works once, then fails when you try to do it again, or does this not work at all, ever - having worked once before, then stopped working?

                Does it work if you go back to the original test environment from before you moved it?

                Does it crash when setting the options or running the report? Meaning, if you take the report.saveas line out, does it still crash?

                The error you are getting seems to be that your options point "P" is being set to a character. I'm wondering if the order of the fields in the saveas is incorrect, even if it looks right from the documentation. The error suggests the "options" is in the wrong place. Try removing one of the ,"", before options.

                Also, try running it with just a "" in options - (maybe try it with a smaller report!)

                  Re: Newbie here looking for Help with Reports

                  Weird, I put my SQL arguments in the report, and ran the code with out the options. It worked, so I took the argements out of the report and put them back on the filter, and it is working again. I may have found a bug.
