Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Windows 8

I have decided to buy dbdos pro 3 for 'peace of mind' and also because xp mode is starting to make my computer run very slowly. I have got my A4 V8 working with dbdos pro 3 ie I can view and enter records (I run simple databases not sets etc) but can't seem to print to printer / email or pdf and was wondering if there is a quick fix to make this all happen. Your help will be much appreciated! Best wishes Robert

      Robert

I purchased dbdos 2 in April and upgraded to Pro3 in May. They enlarged the instruction manual from "2" to "3" mostly to accommodate printing. My use of Pro3 does not require much printing, so to date I have not attempted it. If you have not done so, print out that manual--quick start guide. Now that you have raised the question, I will see what I can do to print.

Regarding the email or pdfs, I don't know what you expect to do. Using ctl_alt_del while in pro3, will get you into task manager and from there you can get into IE. From there, you can get into mail. Your best bet to email or pdf information from pro3, is to save the files from pro3 and then exit pro3. At that point, pull up the saved files and use the email or pdf.

If all else fails, call dbdos.

Let me know how you make out.

@assetcontrol, boy do I appreciate your need for 'peace of mind.' With windoze.any.ver, you have to wonder what it's going to do next that will trash your system. But my question/comment is about this part of your message: "... xp mode is staring to make my computer run very slowly."

Why should it be running slower? If it was running OK before Windoze-8, the only reason I can think that it should not be running OK now is that Microtrash has introduced a file or script in one of it's "Updates" to make it run slower. To cause users so much inconvenience that they have to run out a buy Windoze-8 and incur a new learning curve just to navigate it, to say nothing of the horror of "updating" one's software/programs.

Could it be that we will have to use one computer for business purposes and another one, with Windoze-8, to use the Internet?
