Default Deploying Alpha Anywhere Application Server to my ISP Host

    Good day,

Please can someone advise where I can find the procedures for deploying Alpha Anywhere Application Server to my ISP host site? I have a copy of Alpha Anywhere Application Server.

    Regards Brian Whitnall

To start things off, you need a dedicated or virtual private server where you have access to the server's desktop via remote desktop. At that point, you download the Alpha Anywhere Server to your server desktop, and install it like a normal application.

This gives more info on how to set up on your Virtual Private Server :

The original document is available at http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/How+to...erver+on+a+VPS

You must also set the VPS firewall to allow Alpha 5 in and out.

If you are using web hosting - do you mind sharing the name of the web hosting service provider (Rackspace, godaddy, Dreamhost, etc)?

You're able to customize the servers to suit your needs.

If you are looking for a less expensive solution.. I am currently trying CONTABO very good prices. so far no big issues.. but you have to do everything by yourself. The VPS is completely "un managed ".
But after the initial setup it is not that bad for the prices. I tried previously godaddy it was more expensive and slower... I am talking about a VPS and not a dedicated server..
it would be intersting to know who is using what? beside the famous "Zebra host"

    Brian,

Linux won't work, must be a Windows server.

I believe these may be virtual private servers (VPS) at the low prices. Do they provide complete access to the servers (Remote Desktop connections)?

1&1 has Windows servers for the same price. At least here in the states. Not sure if you get remote desktop connection or not.

I am actually looking at setting up my own server to start with. Seems simple enough to do, emphasis on "Seems". I can get a standard DNS solution from DynDNS for 30 bucks a year. This should work for now and if I get my SaaS built right and a lot of subscribers then I will have the money to move it all to a host on the internet. If nothing else, I will learn some new things.
