Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Saving Report as PDF, XLS, etc.

I have an app I developed and distribute with A5V10.5 Runtime.
It works great for me (using both runtime and full version) and it works great for my customers except one.
This is what she is reporting:

The issue is the chronic one we have been having all along: it will not SAVE to any file type. Printing is functioning properly.

When I click on the button to save it says Save As, Save Report to a File, File Format, etc....
But, when I hit OK, it stalls out as it routes print to the Amyuni Document Converter (otherwise known as the AlphaFivePrinterV4).
The Scan Shark Processing system (my app) locks, perpetually stalling out. I have to go to Task Manager where it shows 'Not Responding' and end task as it is locked from doing any work.

This same stallout happens when I click the email button. The Windows Print-Que screen shows an error printing the report for the AlphaFivePrinterV4

I believe there is some area in the AlphaFivePrinter properties that needs to be 'ticked' or 'unticked' something very simple but I just am not an AlphaFive/Amyuni expert so need your guidance.

I have had her completely uninstall/reinstall both my app and Alpha-5. I've had her install both from a web link and an install-CD...no difference in the results.
Standard printing (not creating a file) works fine. I don't think it's user error because she seems computer-literate.

Here's my app if it makes a difference: http://inventoryscience.com/Windows/...ng_Install.exe
From the Main-Menu, click Reports, click any button to limit the type and then any report from the list will do.

    Any Ideas ?

    Thanks.

See the inline documentation entry for

Printer not activated, error code -20 (or -30)

    especially the section on

    Fixing stubborn cases

Her issue might be related but not the same. Likely a port assignment problem.
    There can be only one.

        See the inline documentation
        A5, Help menu, Open Documentation

I think it was the same in V10, using v11 now.

        If not, check the wiki.

I just ran it on my machine, and it saved as a PDF just fine. Running ver 10.5 latest patches. Dell optiplex 790 win7 32 bit.

            A solution has been found.

She installed the trial version of A5 anywhere so the drivers would be updated and then went back to V 10.5.

            Thanks everyone.
