Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Problem with UX dialog list

    I have a problem with a list component in an UX dialog. The list component wont load any data and i dont know why.

    I have a custom sql like this:

    SELECT ContactPerson.CntctCode, ContactPerson.CardCode, ContactPerson.Name, BusinessPartner.CardCode AS CardCode1
    FROM ContactPerson ContactPerson
    INNER JOIN BusinessPartner BusinessPartner
    ON ContactPerson.CardCode = BusinessPartner.CardCode
    WHERE BusinessPartner.CardCode = :what_kunde

    I have an argument ( set at runtime) as BusinessPartner.CardCode

    The main UX is based on table Businespartner...

    The list will not load any data... does anybody know why?

    Hi Knut,

    Actually... I thought that would have worked as well. But, the List control isn't seeing the current "Kode". However, in thinking about it, because the list is already rendered your "Kode" probably hasn't been set yet... so no list.

    So... you need to refresh the list in order to synchronize it.

    In the Client-side event - onRenderComplete - put this...

    Code:
    {dialog.object}.refreshListData('listContacts');
    This will ensure the list is current when the UX is completely rendered and data is loaded.

    Then, in the Client-side event - afterAjaxCallbackComplete - put the same code...

    Code:
    {dialog.object}.refreshListData('listContacts');
    Now... each time you navigate to a new record the list will synchronize.

    In working with the List control... a lot... I usually use it in mobile applications where a prior list item is selected, an argument gets sets, and then a Child list is displayed based on that argument. So... everything is in place for the child list to display. Or a button is pressed after an argument is set, and so the List is, again, all ready to go.

    In this case, the List is displayed (and so displays nothing) before it's argument is set. That's what it looks like. The code above will sync the List to the current record at the correct times.

      Thanks for your comments...
      When setting this on the afterAjaxCallbackComplete event is just going in loop ( see attached pic)

        May depend on what else you have going on in the UX. Take it out of the afterAjaxCallbackComplete and, for testing, add a button to your UX... not in the tab area. Add the refresh list code to the onClick event of the button. Let's make sure it's refreshing.

            Also... in your List control... I forgot to detail another change. Just under the SQL Select statement, there is a property to set the Primary Key. This is needed for the List refresh.
