Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Placing multilple pictures at the end of a report

I need some help on building a report that is based on a Sqldatasource.

The sqldatasource is based on a project table that has 2 linked tables. The project table has the basic data for the project, one linked table lists all the steps that are a part of the project, the second table contains images for the project.
So the data, of course, that comes across will have 1 line for each record in each of the linked tables; if there are 3 steps and 2 pictures, then there are 6 lines in the data set (each step has 2 lines because there are 2 pictures)

The report should look something like this:

Page 1:(contains the base project data)
    project name
    owner name
    locations,
    etc.....

Page 2: (contains the steps for the project)
    step 1
    step 2
    step 3

Next pages: (any pictures related to the project
    one picture per page

I have no problem building the report for page 1 and 2, that is listing the project basic data and the steps in a grid fashion on the second page. The part I can't figure is how to have the pictures print at the end of the report. I have tried various grouping, but can't seem to make that work. Tried a linked report, but that does not print anything.

Any ideas on how I might accomplish this?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I have a client who creates project reports that include pictures. These are done in a couple different ways. See the pics below. The first is the report cover and the second is the photos from the inspection. Which type are you trying to create? (or neither of these?

      Either way works.
I can do the cover page ok and then add the list of steps or the cover page and the pictures. The trick is to get the steps after the cover page, with all the pictures to follow.
Right now, I create a pdf file with the cover page and steps. Then create a second pdf with the pictures only. Finally, I use the PDF.append() to combine the reports.

The attached image while it is small might show what we are after.

      Thanks for your help!

Re: Placing multilple pictures at the end of a report

        Well, I figured it out.

Turns out that a linked report that display's images will not work in page, group or report footers. If the linked report has data, it will work, but not with images. So I wrote the report with grouping on images and the base info on the report header section. Added a page break to the header section and inserted a linked report to the steps below that. Now we have it.

I think I'm having the same problem with linked reports and images.
If the linked report has images, it is just showed as grey lines, but text shows up fine in the main report (That holds the linked report)
If I just test the linked report alone, then images are showed correctly.

Are others having the same problem, is there a work around to this issue. Currently I'm using combined pdf also, but this makes the images appear on the next page instead of same page as the main content.
          Kind regards
