Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    List Controls will not refresh

    I have a UX with two list controls. Both are filtered with an argument, deriving its value from a field control.

    Both of the list controls filter and refresh properly when in design mode with Working Preview, but neither when I take it to a production browser. I've tried Chrome and IE with no difference.

    I've accommodated the potential timing issue. To test that further I've added a single button to refresh one of the lists, with no effect.

    {dialog.object}.refreshListData('LIST_MYLISTNAME');

    My preferred method here to get the list data is with a Custom SQL Statement. I've also tried them with custom JSON, and I've tried a Data Series too.

    Nothing - nada - can't seem to get the lists to re-filter and refresh when I'm in a live browser.

    Anyone run into this and have a suggestion? I've now tried, over a period of days, to get *anything* to work and I cannot.

    Re: List Controls will not refresh

    Sorry Steve... I've no answers for you. I did run into this exact issue, however... today and yesterday. In fact... I posted about it. Josh and Michael's comments got me looking at this in another way and my problem was purely timing. My code at various points was right but I never saw the list refresh. My list is based on an argument fed by a textbox control. My Custom SQL Statement is using a WHERE LIKE clause.

    When my Lists didn't refresh... they didn't refresh under Live Preview and production. But when I got the timing right they work in Live and Production.

    You did the same thing I did... add a button with the refresh code. That worked for me. Current build 1970. When that worked I knew it was timing.

    Are the Lists Linked?

      Yeah, I read through your earlier post hoping for a new "aha" and didn't find anything new I hadn't tried.

      Lists are not linked. Current build is a bit old. I'll check through the pre-release notes for any hint I should move up.

      Edit/followup: I just moved to build 1970, makes no difference.

        Well, been at this on and off for another 4 days - still not working so bumping for any new ideas.

        Works well in working preview; not when I initially populate the UX, but when I run the button for a {dialog.object}.refreshListData('MYLIST');

          I know it's a bit of a pain, but if you send me a UX with a List Control and a SQL table, I'll have a look.

            Can't on this on David. (1) very complicated UX - 6 weeks' work into it, and (2) customer NDA prevents this. Thanks though.

              I don't mean that specific UX and table. A simpler sample UX and table should provide the same results you're seeing.

                I think I'll copy a few of the key pieces into a new UX, see how it goes. Might be tomorrow 'til I get to that though.

                  Steve, have you tried tracing through the Javascript with the debugger turned on, on your "production browser"? I have found a few things lately in the core js that way.
