Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Phonegap on iPhone- Notification Plug-in is not installed error message

On iPhone I was able to install an app with notification, but when I click a button that has this 'PhoneGap Notification' Action JS with Notification Type of Beep and Beep count:1,
I get the following error message on iPhone
"Notification Plug-in is not installed error message"

In the configuration file I do see that Aplha has put the following lines
    ...
    <feature name="http://api.phonegap.com/1.0/notification" />
    ...

    Basic Question:
    1) Do I need to copy any files (DLL/Libraries) from phonegap.com to my server that runs the alpha application server, or is this getting the required files in real time from api.phonegap.com during start up?
    2) If I need to copy the Phonegap plugin libraries/DLL to the application server - which folder do I copy them to?
    Please help.

Re: Phonegap on iPhone- Notification Plug-in is not installed error message

Basic Question: 1. No... and No.

PhoneGap Build wraps your HTML5/Javascript application in a wrapper and looks after all the details for you. There is no real time stuff going on. You specify the plugins you want and PhoneGap Build wires them into the wrapper. Once installed on your device... all code is in the app.

The <feature name> tag tells PhoneGap Build what to "build" into your application.

If you follow Bob's documentation for building a simple app it all works.

I just followed the doc again and it built and runs without error.

Thanks David. It worked when I followed Bob's documentation.

Re: Phonegap on iPhone- Notification Plug-in is not installed error message

Yes, I always used to have a "front/initial" a5w page for any application and that page used to call the first UX component. So I continued to use that index.html file(but used the config.xml from the Alpha integrated Phonegap), because alpha did not let me use the a5w file as the initial component (listed just the UX - so I used my index.html.)
          That did not work.
So I followed the instructions and got rid of the initial a5w file, and specified the initial UX - that made it work. Thanks.

I just followed Bob's simple instructions to the letter - or thought I did - and this was the second try (deleted and created a newly-name test app) and I still get the error described above. There is no index file or A5W file, just the single component. Notification boxes were checked. Any idea what the idiot mistake I'm making might be :) ?
