Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Disabling a button after it is clicked once so function isn't executed twice.

    I've tried numerous ways to keep impatient or otherwise "web illiterate" users who like to multiple click my button from doing it but I can't seem to make it work in all browsers.

    My problem is that my button runs an xbasic function which runs a sys_shell_wait() command to make some java do some file work on my server. If the function runs again right away, the files will be in use and I get a bunch of junk in my Xbasic error stack.

    In the action javascript on my button, the best I've found to do was stick some inline javascript before my file download to attempt to temporarily disable the button:
    Code:
    $('{Grid.ComponentName}.V.R{Grid.RowNumber}._UNBOUND_BUTTON_1').disabled=true;
    setTimeout(function(){$('{Grid.ComponentName}.V.R{Grid.RowNumber}._UNBOUND_BUTTON_1').disabled=false;},2000);
    EVEN if I check the box to "Run actions synchronously" extra clicks are still getting through.

    I've also tried setting a variable in the buttons OnDoubleClick event and checking that in the single click but that doesn't work because the single click hits first even in that scenario.

    Hopefully someone has a good way to take care of this problem.

    What about putting this on the button's click event:

    this.disabled = true;

      That works to disable it but this.disabled=false doesn't work to re-enable it. I'm not sure why? I looked in one of my newer grids and the code below is actually what I'm using now.
      Code:
      var ele = '{Grid.ComponentName}.V.R{Grid.RowNumber}._UNBOUND_BUTTON_5';
      $(ele).disabled = true;
      setTimeout(function(){$(ele).disabled=false;},2000);
      I should reiterate that what I was using above and what I'm now using DO work in some browsers but not all; especially older ones.

        the below works too; IF i'm not using a button that only has an image. On a button with only an image (no button text) it errors, telling me it's "unable to set property 'disabled' of undefined or null reference"

        Code:
        var ele = this.id;
        $(ele).disabled = true;
        setTimeout(function(){$(ele).disabled = false;},2000);
        That's why I'm using the code in the last post. I have a button with only an image. (my button label looks like this: <img src="/images/$$web.download.png.a5image" >)

          I just tried making a brand new grid, and the code in my last post works, even with a button that only has the same <img src="/images/$$web.download.png.a5image" > in it.

          Maybe it has to do with the older grid being created in V10.5 or V11?

          this also works fine in the new grid:

          Code:
          this.disabled = true;
          setTimeout(function(){this.disabled = false;},2000);
