Adding new value to dropdown in UV ala D53,D59,D60

I have a UX for a user profile update with a "Company" dropdown. I want to use the ability to add a new company using a pop up window as shown in the D53, D59 and D60 videos.

The problem is the container CONTAINER_1 contains a field to hold the new company name. When the container is displayed in the pop-up window, the field does not show, and looking at the body of the window with firebug, it also does not show. So, what is the secret to making this field show? In the video, it looks like an ordinary textbox field, so that's what I used.

I'd appreciate the help.

Not sure what's wrong with your implementation... but the supplied example component works ok... showing an ajax popup in container_1 with the input field.

However... this method, although excellent and still valid... was created before we had a Container type of Window.

I'd use that instead. It all still works the same... but I think a few less steps.

Add a Container to your UX, with a Type of Window. Add your new dropdown value textbox control in there... and the buttons you want.

From the dropdown control (as in the example) your onChange event will run this...

if( this.value == '__NewChoice__'){dialog.Object}.showContainerWindow(this,'ADD_DD_WINDOW');

The "Add Product" button in the Container Window will run your ajax callback to add the product to the table etc... and then close the Container Window...
