Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How to open a report based on current list control filter?

If you use a grid, you can use CurrentGridFilter() to filter a report. Does the list control have an equivalent?

I think we need more information. Do you want the report filter to match the list filter or do you want the report to run based on items selected in the list?

I have a UX with a list control that has search fields to filter the list. I also have a button to print a report. In the Report Print Genie you set the SQL Filter for the report. If this was grid I could use CurrentGridFilter() and the report would show all filtered records in the grid. But, I am using a list control. I can code the sql filter, but was wondering if the list control has something similar to the grid's CurrentGridFilter().

Rick, you may have round an answer already, but in an attempt to accomplish the same task, I used an array argument described in Selwyn's video below.
I only want the report to include records that have been selected in a list, so I have a select all button that executes javascript to select all rows.

So.... for a list control, is there something like the grid CurrentGridFilter() that you can use for reports?, or not? I want reports to be based on a search done in the list control.

                Did this work for you?

I am getting an error when trying to use CurrentListFilter("LIST1").

Yes, it worked for me. You probably need to tell the participants in the group what error you are getting. Also, the fields for the list should be same as fields used in the report.

I have another post opened where I explain the issue. I was just wondering if it worked for you. Thanks for responding so quickly!

Re: How to open a report based on current list control filter?

Tagging onto an old thread, but on purpose to keep things together.

Using 3670-4684, I have 3 individual search controls for a list including one named SEARCH_stateabvr.

When I turn on the List Debugging info and search for "GA" (without the quotes) I see this info:

                      {'page': 1, 'recordCount': 45, 'recordCountFormatted': '45', 'lastBreakValue': '', 'pageCount': 1, 'pageSize': 20, 'paginated': false, '_optimizedJSON': true, 'filter': '(stateabvr LIKE :SEARCH_stateabvr_stateabvr1)', 'having': '', 'order': 'state , county', 'filterParameters': '%GA%|||C|search_stateabvr_stateabvr1\n', 'highlight': {'STATEABVR': ['GA']}, 'whereClause': 'state <> \'\' AND (stateabvr LIKE :SEARCH_stateabvr_stateabvr1)', 'whereParameters': '%GA%|||C|search_stateabvr_stateabvr1\n'}
So, when trying to produce a report based on CurrentListFilter() I'm prompted for information about an undefined argument - SEARCH_stateabvr_stateabvr1. Doesn't seem right to me. Anyone else get this or handle this in a way I can't figure out?
