Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Refresh after ajax callback

    Hi all,

    I need some help figuring out this refresh problem I am having.

    I have a Tabbed UI with grids in it.

    The main grid is my Customers with 2 linked grids to one to addresses and one to contacts.

    I am using a UX component on the customers grid to add or edit records. Click a button in a field and the UX window opens.

    On the UX component I have a button that perform an ajax callback to add the address info I add in the customer fields to a record in the addresses table, and another button that performs an ajax callback to add the current name and email data to the contacts table.

    What I would like it to do is when it successfully adds the records for each of these buttons is it refreshes so the grids in the parent tabbed UI display the new record in the grids.

    Capture.PNG

    I've tried a refresh button on a toolbar button, which does work however it looses focus on the selected record which I would prefer to not have happen.

    Thanks for any assistance,
    Marc

    Re: Refresh after ajax callback

    On the genie that opens your pop up your edt window, there should be a property for refreshing Current Row or All Rows on your parent. Then on your main grid, you could put some javascript in the OnRefreshGrid client side event to also refresh your linked grids.

    I am away from computer and typing this on my ipad so am making suggestions from memory with no screenshots. Hope it helps.

      Re: Refresh after ajax callback

      Thanks for the reply Carol. I don't see this as an option for the action I am using to open the window.
      "Open a UX component to Edit current Record in Grid, or add a new Record"

      There is an option to "Submit Parent Component when UX is submitted" in the other UX component action "Open UX as an alternative editing view for current record".
      This may work, but when I am performing the action in question, I am not modifying the current record, so I am not using the defined control submit button that would refresh the parent grid with the submitted data, I'm running a separate button.

      I just noticed these options in the Genie (Window Javascript Events : onHide or onBeforeHide)

      Could I perform some sort of script in one of these events to refresh the child grids? I'm guessing "Hide" means closes.

      As I said earlier, I would prefer to not loose focus of the current record when the parent grid refreshes.
      Thanks,

        Re: Refresh after ajax callback

        Hi Mark,

        I don't quite understand your case, but if you need to refresh the grid in the parent form you can use javascript code like this:
        Code:
        setTimeout(function(){window.parent.{grid.Object}.refresh()},1000);
        This will basically refresh the parent grid with a timeout of 1 second, you may need to adjust. If the {window.parent} does not resolve to your parent grid, then you can try with this:
        Code:
        var po = {grid.object}.GetParentObject();
        po.{grid.Object}.Refresh()
        Hope this point you in the right direction!!!
