Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Previous Alpha Anywhere Full Install files ? Where can I download ?

I need to reinstall a previous version of Alpha Anywhere v12 (Development IDE) on a computer in my office.

Does anyone know where I can go in order to download the Full installation file that corresponds to patch 1856_4237 ?

I do not want to grab the latest release and apply 1856_4237 patch because this particular subscription ended shortly after 1856_4237 was released.

    Thank you.

    Robert

Re: Previous Alpha Anywhere Full Install files ? Where can I download ?

Thank you Jon but maybe I did not explain myself correctly.

      I already have that link.
However, that page only have patch files.
I need the actual base product (Full Installation) so that i can then apply the corresponding patch on top of it.

      To explain it another way:
Let us say a developer has an (old) expired subscription to v12, but he lost all his installation files for the development tool.
He now wants to setup his old AA development environment on a fresh new machine.

      My question is:
Where does he go to get old versions of the base product ?
Your link shows me where to get the patches...thats good because that will be applied on top of the base product.

If he downloads the latest AA v12 base product, then applies the patch, he will get a message saying that he is not a current subscriber.

SO thats my issue. Where are the previous releases of AA v12 "Full Installation" files ?

      Hope this helps.

1> did you not get an email giving you a link to download the software?
2> also you can just update to a previous patch and it will revert to that version, is that not the case?
        thanks for reading

You can still get your original downloads by logging in at this address: https://www.alphasoftware.com/shop/Login.asp

I don't know why they do not make that system easy to find and effective; you have to really work to find it.

Frank - the downloads at that link are all patches, not the base system.

That'll teach me to be fully awake when I respond to a post! As it happens, I just did a test by copying the link to a full 'patch' version, changing the link to 'full_dl' instead of 'full_patch' and was asked if I wanted to save/run the download. This would bypass the need to load your original version and then patch to your latest authorized version.

Re: Previous Alpha Anywhere Full Install files ? Where can I download ?

thanks workingJon! they should just put links to both so we don't have to change the url ourselves....also

I know that I just went to my original order (email) clicked the download button and the download was for the current version NOT the most recent version I paid for. They should make it so that you download the product that you paid for. It was a waste fo time to download and INSTALL a version for which I do not have access to. So I had to patch it back again resulting in NOT what I wanted...

The reason I am doing this in the first place is because I am thinking (could be wrong btw) that installing 2442_4362 and then patching back to 2128_4292 has caused a bug with the reporting feature.
I will reply after I find out for sure.

Re: Previous Alpha Anywhere Full Install files ? Where can I download ?

I have posted in numerous places regarding my report problems in the past week. I just did the re-install of the FULL DL of the 2128_4292 and reports are working now. SO it appears that if you install the 2442_4362 and roll back you may lose reporting in a web application.
