What to avoid in v11 web app development if user will use Win8.1 and/or IEv11
I've read here of a couple of bugs that will not be fixed in v11 (but are fixed in v12). I will not be upgrading to v12 and I want to continue to use v11 for a "hybrid" application using both the DT and Web sides of the program.
Most of the PC's in our store are pre-Win8, mostly Vista and XP. But some new systems are now Windows 8.1. My development systems are using Windows 7 and Vista. I have not had any problems on the DT side.
I have read that as long as I use Windows 7 for development for the web application I will not have any problems. The bugs are with Windows 8.1 and IE11.
My question is this - are there going to be issues with my Web App when a user logs in from a PC using Win8/8.1 and IE11? Can these issues be avoided if the user logs in using Chrome? Or will the problems surface no matter what browser they use to login?
If I use v11 what "features" should I avoid using when developing my web app if the app will be used from a PC using Windows 8.1 and IE11?
My application(s) are for our company use only. I will not deploy these applications beyond our own network. I am hoping I can continue to use A5v11 for several more years. But I know most of our PC's will be running Windows 8 (or 9) in a couple more years. As long as I keep my developer's machine at Windows 7 will I be able to stay with v11?
Thank you,
