Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

"Could not open or create multi-user-information file" error when opening workspace

I am trying to automate the weekly process of copying a workspace from our sever to my laptop (for when I go on the road)
I have created a "batch file" with Microsoft task scheduler, using robocopy (\\Server2\a5\Watts /MIR C:\OneDrive\Watts) that will mirror the files on our server to those on my desktop computer (fires at 7:00pm each day) and I have that folder inside "Onedrive" that uploads changes automatically to the cloud. Anytime I have my laptop on and connected to the internet, Onedrive downloads changed files to my laptop.
It is all working, except when I try to open the workspace on my laptop, I get the following error message:

"Could not open or create multi-user-information file C\Users\Tony\Onedrive\Watts\WTC.MUF"

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks
    Tony

Could not open or create multi-user-information file
This indicates a permissions issue with the location where the database is saved. Also check to see if the files are being marked read only during the transfer process.

      Thanks Stan
I've looked into issue and files were read only. I changed that and still no good. I took another look and files appear to be hidden and I can't change that. (check box is grayed out)
I have read online that using the "robocopy /mir" command had issues with this type problem.
I am going to try using the "xcopy" command and see if that will work.
      Thanks again,
      Tony

First suggestion is to zip the files. Then copy in whatever manner. If you copy files even to a cd, and then to a drive they can become hidden and/or read only. If you zip them, there should be no proble.

Have a look and see if the version on your Laptop is the same as the version where you are connecting to.
If the builds are different you can get this error.
Also, if the version on your LT is in the Programme folders, windows may not like you messing with the folder content.

I was able to get this working and it has been a real time saver for me.
I placed a copy of my workspace folder in the Onedrive folder (I assume this step set the correct file attributes)
Using a daily scheduled task and using the command robocopy I am able to see the current version (or as of 5:00pm) of my office app on my laptop without doing anything except opening laptop after 7:00pm each day. (only files that have changed are being copied)
              Thanks!
