Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Download multiple files from website using http_download gives error

I see no indication in the documentation for http_download() that it accepts anything other than the url of the file to be downloaded, optionally the name and location of where it should be downloaded to, and two other optional parameters. In other words, it is a single file downloading command and not a batch downloading command.
    There can be only one.

I don't see in the documentation that multiple files (via a wildcard) is an option.

It does say download a file (ie a single file)

What about an ftp command? or if you have a list of the file names, then loop through the http_download()

        Thanks for the responses.
Using a single file that exist as
        http_download("http:website.com/public_html/upload/uploaded/theredhouse.jpg", "C:\Pict")
gives the following error in the download dialog
        status: Servererror- file not found

So I must not be stating the right syntax in saying the right http.....line

Re: Download multiple files from website using http_download gives error

You specified the save to location but no file name.

          http_download("http:website.com/public_html/upload/uploaded/theredhouse.jpg", "C:\Pict\theredhouse.jpg")

          HTTP_DOWNLOAD( [ URL as C [, New_File as C [, Modal as L [, Dialog as P ]]]] )

New_File as C is not the same thing as the_location_where_I_want_it_saved as C
          There can be only one.

Re: Download multiple files from website using http_download gives error

Even after the addition of the // and the name of the files at the end; I was not able to download it and got the same error.
But no matter what, it was going to be a bit complicated.
So I did opt for an external ftp program with command lines

                  http://winscp.net/eng/docs/guide_automation (free)

I added an script to run an external program
                  C:\Program Files (x86)\WinSCP\WinSCP.exe
                  a command line: [email protected]
and it does open up to the transfer, showing what is available to transfer and what already has been transfered.

                  Aolmost 99% perfect.

                  Thanks to all.

Re: Download multiple files from website using http_download gives error

May I suggest leaving out the public_html? I know it would stop you on all of my sites.
                      like: http://www.website.com/upload/uploaded/theredhouse.jpg
understanding the files are located in public_html/whatever, when you go to the site, your are in that folder since that is where the site is.
That may change if you have complete root access.

Access to the area where the files are, are well protected.
Thast may be the of the reasons not able to work.
As I said before the use of

                        http://winscp.net/eng/docs/guide_automation (free)

It makes it very simple. Once you go there for the first time, it keeps the setting, so a link to it and is ready for highlight, select all, hover the local drive/folder and paste.

                        Thanks.
