Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    {dialog.Object}.setDirty(true); ....not working??

    In a UX I have a button that when pressed performs a SQL UPDATE, via ajax callback, for the current row. In the After callback complete JS I have this JS code...

    Code:
    {dialog.Object}.setDirty(true);
    {dialog.Object}.submit();
    It doesn't appear, however, that my UX is actually being made dirty. If I comment out the .setDirty part and add
    Code:
    e._set.Dirty_Flag1.value = "1"
    to my ajax callback function then the UX is made dirty (because I changed the value in my field called Dirty_Flag1) and when submitted updates itself.

    I don't understand what I am doing wrong ...bottom line is I want the UX to be made dirty before it's submitted but without having to change a value some place.

    The set dirty code worked for me.

    But the issue I see above is that you are setting the dirty flag, then submitting. As soon as you submit, then it's no longer dirty.

    What are you trying to accomplish again?

    The test I did: I created a button that fires {dialog.Object}.setDirty(true);

    I also created a piece of text that with a client side show/hide of dialog.isDataDirty = true

    It works just fine.

    For a quick way to get it to work, create a control and set it like you are doing. The control doesn't have to be connected to anything. I think what you are seeing is some kind of timing issue. The submit is happening before the isdirty is finished firing. If you really want to do it this way, you might try wrapping the submit in a timer to give the dialogue enough time to get truly dirty before it fires.

      This button I'm referring to inserts an image into the current row. When the image is inserted I want want my UX to refresh itself and show the inserted image. Without my e._set.Dirty_Flag1.value = "1" the UX doesn't refresh...I have to navigate away from the record, come back to it, and then I see the inserted image. But, if I change some value after the image insert (by using e._set.Dirty_Flag1.value = "1") and then submit the UX refreshes on its own. I thought by using the {dialog.Object}.setDirty(true); I could achieve the same refresh but without changing a value.

        Would this work?

        {dialog.Object}.resetForm(false);

          No, that didn't work. I have a few grid/detail view components that I use the detailviewRefresh action to achieve what I want. There is no UX equivalent that i see however.

            Yea, I was looking for something like that too. But setting a hidden field on the form like you are doing is not a lot of overhead. It's probably better than setting a timer.

                I ended up adding a column called "Dirty_Flag". In my xbasic I set it to 1 -- e._set.Dirty_Flag.value = "1" -- (it's defaulted to 0). In the after callback complete JS I submit the data. The image I wanted displayed in my UX then appears.

                  I wonder if the problem is that just setting the dialog to dirty doesn't really make a difference. Or at least not the difference you want.

                  Dialogues also keep track of which columns are dirty. So even if the dialog has been set to dirty, there are no dirty columns so far as the dialog is concerned - so nothing to submit.

                  Hence setting a column to dirty does the trick while just setting the dialog to dirty does not.

                    Thank you both for replying me. i know xbasic background setValue does working. I am just wonder why "{dialog.Object}.setDirty(true);" does not make any difference. I guess I have to use Xbasic to make dialog dirty...
