Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Read Only Grid: Current Row Values in File download set to Ajax Callback?

    How do I get at the current row values in a readonly grid during a File Download set to ajax callback? Is there an easy way to grab them from somewhere in the "e" object or do I have to write something fancy?

    I don't understand fully but in the ajax callback if you check the box compute currentcurrent row data the data will be available in your callback

      Re: Read Only Grid: Current Row Values in File download set to Ajax Callback?

      Hi Gandhi,
      compute current row data is not available in the "file download" action. Actually, I tried a normal Ajax callback and checked that box; however, it didn't work there either (as far as having the fields available). It only seems to work on an editable grid or a grid with an editable detail view.

      I coded a work around for now but I'd really like to find a better way to do it.

      The work around is to convert the filedownload action to text and do something like this....
      Code:
      window['{grid.componentName}_G__UNBOUND_BUTTON_1_2'] = function(rowNum,rowId,objEle) {
      var rn={grid.Object}.getSelectedRow();
      var HexPath = {grid.object}.getValue('G','HEXPATH',rn);
      var Filename = {grid.object}.getValue('G','FILENAME',rn);
      var StatusName = {grid.object}.getValue('G','STATUSNAME',rn);
      {grid.Object}.ajaxCallback('G',rowNum,'GetStampedPdf','','_getData=true&HexPath='+HexPath+'&FileName='+Filename+'&StatusName='+StatusName+'&_xbpropertiesfunction=FileDownload_8fdb6519bf3d47f090c1ac1cf49e5881');
      }
      I added in the var definitions and stuck them into the additional data area of the callback.

      Like I said, hopefully there's a more elegant solution to this out there.

          i did look into it, since you piqued my interest. i haven't done that at all so far.
          if i understand you correctly you are defining a function to file down load. and you are asking to reference the field value from the grid that asks the download.
          and in the ajaxcallback function, i think the fourth one, it clearly gives you the data from the grid in the e object.
          since you said it is not available i took it i was wrong. and did not want to pester you.
          (i imagined a scenario there is a grid with a file name as one of the field and click of a button on that row in grid will download that named file from the server to your computer)
          thanks for reading

            Your imagined scenario is right. There's a grid field with a full file path (HexPath). But it seems that the values just aren't available in the xbasic function on a read only grid. At least not when I'm debugging. I know you are still on V11 but can you confirm?

              since I do not know how you implemented this and also I have no experience with file download I am only showing the fields from the grid are available in ajaxcallback:
              please take a look

              no way I claim how this works.

                Re: Read Only Grid: Current Row Values in File download set to Ajax Callback?

                Thanks GGandhi. You made me look at it again. It appears that the problem is the Native SQL I'm using. Alpha doesn't want to play nice with it.
                You can see my example:
                http://screencast.com/t/qACHdxdF

                So, I'm guessing they won't say it's a bug, even though I kind of think it is. I mean, the data is available (I can get it with JavaScript) so why not make it available in the callback?
