Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Angular Javascript with Alpha Anywhere

I've just been given a development project, and the web design guy has used angular Java Script for the initial pages.

I know next to nothing about Angular JS, and am wondering if this is a page template that can be used with Alpha?

Can anyone point me in a direction that might give me some resources for this? Specifically, can I integrate alpha anwhere with a page that uses Angular JS?

    Any help would be appreciated...

Sorry for the general nature of the question, but at this point I don't know how to be very specific...

Re: Angular Javascript with Alpha Anywhere

Version 12 UX-component (and all others) is tightly integrated to Alphas own JS framework. Because of the nature of Angular JS they certainly will not work together. There will be (un)expected problems.

But any JS framework will work with Alpha if not using in those pages (.html, .a5w) Alphas components or loading a5.js so of course you can use Angular JS with Alpha this way.

So for example you can use KendoUI (has Angular JS integration build in) with Alpha.

      Thanks Ken,

So are you saying in a web application, alpha (a5w) pages and pages with Angular JS could co-exist as long as there is no alpha <% xxxxxxx %> coding on any of the Angular pages?
So if I could figure out how to have the Angular JS pages interact with the same database as the alpha pages interact with, then that might be an environment that would work?

Re: Angular Javascript with Alpha Anywhere

I guess the other part of that question is can pages with Angular JS be rendered by the Alpha Application server?

Re: Angular Javascript with Alpha Anywhere

Angular JS is rendered by browser alone. You use ajax in html pages to communicate with Alpha server. In Alpha serverside you use xbasic just like you would use any server side language in any other server. So you can combine html + js + xbasic just as you like.

AngularJS is a Framework and a client-side library.

Alpha and AngularJS can live together. Attached is an A5W Page running a UX Component which is running some AngularJS code.

                David,

Thank you very much for the demo files.
I'm still trying to get them to work on my system, but it is very helpful to see your video as well.
                Thanks again...

Re: Angular Javascript with Alpha Anywhere

angular js is a sophisticated front end just like alpha. using angular inside a5w page in my opinion is not taking full advantage of its potential. I would think keep angular to present the front end and alpha server to send json formatted data to the front end will maximize the potential since angular has cross site xhttp and jsonp included that will be lot easier.
I got involved in jquery mobile while testing angular did not proceed further, but the idea is the same in jquery and angular. use them separately and get data from alpha.
                    thanks for reading

Nice example but actually does not tell can Alpha JS in UX and Angular JS really live together. Hello world using UX component is just infact quite funny example. Thanks!

Here's another interesting example. All controls are being rendered within the UX (same as the last example). In this example the AngularJS event Save() is calling a Javascript function defined in the UX. The Javascript function calls an AjaxCallback. The callback refreshes the List control. The AngularJS code is held in 2 places. One block of code is a .js file being included in the A5W page. The other block of code is sitting the Javascript functions section of the UX.

I believe this indicates that Alpha and AngularJS can work together for the greater good of apps everywhere.

I must say I do not anymore understand what you are trying to tell.
In your videos you are telling that AngularJS works. I believe you. Why should it not work?

AngularJS works with html. You can build Angular controllers and use Alphas buttons and what ever and events do fire because in code level Alphas buttons and others are just html code.

The question is how Alpha js and AngularJS are integrated to work together. I am sure they are not in any level.
The hole UX functionality is build around AlphaJS in client side. If you can maintain AngularJS scoupe, dom, css manipulation, form validation and handle submits ,errors, and ajax together with AlphaJS when refreshing, caching, redirecting, actionscripting and so on and everything works together and they have access to each others variables and functions and they do not have any conflicts I am more than surprised.
