Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Page Redirection

    try putting code similar to this, adjust according to your fields. in the onKeyUp event of every field listed below- inline javascript.

    Code:
    var d1 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','SS_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

    var d2 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','LV_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

    var d3 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','PE_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

    var d4 = d1*d2*d3;

    {grid.Object}.setValue('G','TOTAL',{Grid.RowNumber},d4);
    do not use refresh.

      Re: Page Redirection

      you could also try a variation like this to see if it works before other fields have any number entered.

      Code:
      var d1 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','SS_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});
      var d2 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','LV_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});
      var d3 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','PE_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

      if (d1 == "" &&  d2 == "" &&  d3 =="") {
      var d4 = 0;
      } else {
      if (d1 == "") {
      d1 = 1;}
      if (d2 == "") {
      d2 = 1;
      }
      if (d3 == "") {
      d3 = 1;
      }
      var d4 = d1*d2*d3;
      }

      {grid.Object}.setValue('G','TOTAL',{Grid.RowNumber},d4);
      again do not refresh, this is not dependent on refreshing. all inline javascript.
      also it is possible you can omit a line in each field where that field will have a number, but for easy understanding I left on all the fields. like if (d1 == "") { d1 = 1;} may be omitted in ss_amount field and so on.

        Re: Page Redirection

        I have implemented your example as

        Code:
        var d1 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','SS_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

        var d2 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','LV_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

        var d3 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','PE_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber});

        var d4 = d1+d2+d3;

        {grid.Object}.setValue('G','TOTAL_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber},d4);
        However this is what happens when I enter a value for example:
        ss_amount---- 2
        lv_amount-----2
        pe_amount----2

        I get total_amount=222

          Re: Page Redirection

          is this in the grid or in the table in the database, remember all the stuff in the web are characters, you need to convert them to numbers if you want to store them
          (characters 2+2+2 = 222)
          use convert_type to get to numbers.

            Re: Page Redirection

            convert_type() is xbasic. This is javascript, so format your summary like this:

            Change:
            var d4 = d1+d2+d3;
            To:
            var d4 = (+d1) + (+d2) + (+d3);

                var d4 = d1+d2+d3;
                in your code you have addition, in my code I have multiplication, am I wrong?
                if so then I have to rewrite the code.

                      I tried var d4 = (+d1) + (+d2) + (+d3);
                      but I received an error message of "object does not support property or method replace"

                                the code looks correct except
                                var d1 = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','SS_AMOUNT',{Grid.RowNumber}); all these should be in capitals.
                                if you do not have if statement then the total will be NaN, not the error message you are getting, like "object does not support property or method replace"
                                so there is more to it than I see.
                                I can post a screencast little later.
