Default Creating a mobile app with PhoneGap build .... can I use separate or embedded components ?

I am trying to build a mobile project with PhoneGap but having problems when trying to open separate UX components from the main component.
When I attempt to do so, the screen shows up blank and freezes and the wait icon stays up.

Wonder if there is something that I am missing ?

Does it only work when everything is in one UX component and placed in individual panels ?

    Please Help.

You can use embedded components, but at this time probably not advisable... specially if the embedded UX contains controls that need to be offline. The embedded component requires an ajax callback to load it. EDIT: DK: No longer true. See posts below.

How large is your main UX and how large is your embedded UX? In terms of # of controls... and Lists?

Do you have your URL for Ajax Callbacks set properly in the PhoneGap Build Builder?

I am at this time using a very small test mobile project because I want to see it work first before moving on to a larger project.

So my main UX has about 7 controls in all. I do not have any list controls.

I have web security active. My first UX control is a UX with an embedded login section .
Does that make a difference ?

I was thinking that some new functionality wasn't in the pre-release yet... but it is... so... regarding my prior post... "nevermind". There is a new option for Embedded Components and for the action "Open a UX Component".

The property is named "Method for opening UX in a PhoneGap or static HTML application". One of these options is pre-compiled... which compiles your embedded UX into a .js file and sends that file along to PhoneGap Build with your main UX. There is information on this in the pre-release notes. There are other options for this property as well. Very powerful stuff.

However, according to the release notes, pre-compiled doesn't allow you to use security.

But, sure, a small app I would not use embedded, just make it all be one UX.

    From the pre-release notes:

    Benefits of the Pre-computed Method
The primary benefit of the precomputed method is speed. No callback is necessary, so the child UX will load very quickly.

    Limitations of the Pre-computed Method
Since the child UX component is pre-computed at the time the PhoneGap application (or Static HTML) application is build, there is no concept of what the user's security groups are and what the value of any session variables are. Therefore this option is not appropriate if you have any server-side show/hide expressions, or if certain controls have associated security settings. Also, any data in the component will have been rendered at design-time so you may need to write Javascript code to set certain control values in the child UX after it has been rendered.

My first Embedded UX surprise came when I discovered that I had to publish it to the website so it could be loaded at run time. (DUH!)

My second Embedded UX surprise came when I had connection strings that I set in the PhoneGap setting, but aren't smoothly passed into the Embedded UX, as I had a list in the embedded UX. I haven't come up with a solid way to do this that my feeble brain can fathom.

I can force it by making connect string changes for each publish site and then returning the connect string to the default for testing. I'm sure there's a better smooth way, but as always, time is the challenge.

I have Embedded UX working, but not quite as smooth as I need it to be to avoid sleepless nights.

In a mobile app should be all of UX components embedded? I have similar situation, security is turn on and when I login, I call another ux component but it doesn't work.

It has to be published to the web URL location and web component permission has to be set to Always_Allowed or Login_Required.

You have to have internet connectivity. It is dynamically loaded from the web, not embedded in the PhonGap build.

Thanks Carl, my code meets these requirements. I call one a5w page but the source code is showed rather then the action.

I only embed a component in PhoneGap, not an A5w page. Never tried, I only embed UX components.

As UX components can be web components, embedding an A5w would make sense, but my minds stalls out embedding an A5w in a PhoneGap app.

Thanks again, but if I don't want to use ux component "as embedded"? See: I have one menu component and I need to call other component without make it embedded in first component? Sorry if my question is basic.

I've successfully embedded UX components into panels, but never embedded an A5w into a PhoneGap app.

It makes sense that the A5w is delivered as source code (HTML/CSS) but the PhoneGap built app isn't a browser that will dynamically render the HTML/CSS.

    Just on question:
Right, but I used a5w because I didn't have success using ux directly. If I try again my question is: can I use ux components not embedded?

Not really, although I've asked for that. Embedded works well other than requiring connectivity.

There is a method of passing arguments or the embedded UX can reach into its parent and extract and update controls.

Let me explain my persistence. With security turned on, the uxLogin component shouldn't have other ux components (that require authentication) embedded (in my opinion). Why?
Because, when the uxLogin is called with components that required authentication embedded the user is redirect by security flow to uxLogin again.
Then the application is in infinity looping.

I didn't require authentication for the embedded UX components.

    Didn't run into that problem.
