Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Something needs to be done about the help system...

I guess Visual Studio projects are tailored to be easy for toddlers and the mentally handicapped, such as myself, because even though Alpha Anywhere is universally touted as being exceptionally fast and simple to learn, I am still struggling with things like "Multiple Layouts" in list controls, and the intricacies of the "Responsive layout settings" in the UX Properties tab.
mark, even tho' you write dozen pages in your post, you cannot be that dumb as you call yourself if you can produce world class application in six months in any programming language. as far as visual studio products are tailored to toddlers, people have produced world class applications with that, even companies market their product compiled from those visual product line such as alpha five.

you are capable of thinking oneway from start to finish in linear fashion, but in alpha they give you many pieces, like lego pieces, that you need to assemble together. so one might say the former is two dimensional and the latter three dimensional, if you don't get insulted by that statement.

you probably thinking the same way you did your program in visual studio and not able to shake it out of you, just like many play writers or story tellers or song writers have mental block. if you get out of that i am sure you can produce well liked app in shorter time than you write your posts.

it is not your fault ( doubt you are dummy or retarded) it is not alphas fault ( alpha is not just flash post cards with no substance behind it) it is the coupling of minds. you need to think differently, if you see what they are doing ( you saw what you are doing when you wrote in visual line ) then you can assemble the pieces they offer you then everything will fit.

(if this post looks like yours, it is accidental)

I think the hype qualifies as hype.

Not to pile on, but I think the way you work as you described in a previous post (basically on a granular DOM level) does not mesh well with Alpha. Based upon everything you have said, it seems like it's not the tool for you. OTOH, you might check w. KKFIN elsewhere here on this board. He uses Alpha in a way that others don't, utilizing node.js and other techniques.

Yeah, I fail to see anything offensive in Gandhi's post. Not sure why the vitriol? And Mark was just venting his frustration. You should hear me when I get frustrated w. Alpha.

Looks like the moderator should check his calendar as well. Offensive terms are allowed but complaints about them are not. My post was removed. Who moderates the moderator?

A short reply to your long, but really excellent post - both the "rant" <g> and the summary. We are in the process of revamping both the website and the documentation, and have hired to new staff to help us. I work closely with both the website and documentation groups, and plan to meet with them to review your post point-by-point.
