Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Center checkbox on a UX

    I have a checkbox control on a UX with the label above the control.

    How do I center the checkbox control in the space provided on a UX. On a Grid you use the in-line style, but that doesn't exist on a UX.

    It currently looks like this:

    Code:
    My checkbox label
    X
    I want it to look like this:

    Code:
    My checkbox label
                 X
    Note: Yes, I could probably mess with the CSS and do it in there, but I don't want all my checkboxes to be centered. I'm looking for a 1 off solution.

    I even tried a conditional style (1=1) - that didn't work either.

    Give this a try. It's seems that a style display setting (inline-block) on the checkbox control is kinda getting in the way. I'm not sure if the code below will have an adverse effect... but it seems to be ok.

    In your UX Client-side onRenderComplete event (or where ever you need this) put...

    Code:
    $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.CHECK1').style.display = "block";
    $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.CHECK1').style.textAlign = "center";

      I tried that code. I can't get it to work!

      In working preview, it runs, but it doesn't actually center my checkbox.

      When I put it live it gives an error.

      (And yes, I changed check1 to the name of the control.)

        Looks ok here... Live, Work, Published. Maybe there's something specific about your checkbox... some setting already applied. Attached is the component I used for testing. I put a container around the checkboxes to illustrate centering... although the container is not needed for centering. Below is what it looks like rendered. Put together a UX with your checkbox and post it.

          The difference is that my checkbox is just that, a checkbox.

          It is a logical field and is just Checked or unchecked.

          I downloaded your UX and I agree it works as you suggest. But turn the centered checkbox into a logical field instead of character and it stops working.

            I tried in dialog( version 11 ) and any setting on the size, padding etc., seems to change it. I did not have to have padding and width just one of them:'take a look

              Your fourth picture looks like what I want, but you only show the picture with the checkbox centered. What settings did you use to center it? I tried putting some padding and a margin in, neither did any good for me.

              My checkbox is width 4 in, so I tried a padding of 2in to see if that would put in in the center, and it did not. (Same for 2in margin.)

              Note: I am using V12, but the settings should work the same I would think.

                This is why it's a good idea to submit a small test case... or at least describe the details of your issue including how a control is set up. Since there are lot of options and properties to do something, being specific is a good practice.

                  Re: Center checkbox on a UX

                  This can be easily accomplished with a little bit of CSS. The rendered Checkbox control is automatically wrapped in a div. The width setting of the checkbox control is applied to this div... but a text-align style setting is applied to the checkbox control itself. Since parent div is not centered... neither will the checkbox control be centered. Thankfully, we can apply an extra class to the parent div.

                  The Checkbox control has a property named "Control container class name". In this property put "checkCenter" (no quotes).

                  Now, in the UX Properties... in Local CSS Definitions... put this...

                  Code:
                  .checkCenter{
                  text-align:center;
                  }
                  The parent div of the checkbox control already has a class of A5WLayout... which makes everything look pretty and aligned with each other. We are adding our checkCenter class so that this parent div now has 2 classes. Our class centres the checkbox control.

                    Each result is preceded by setting.
                    1 setting 2 result
                    3 setting 4 result
