Default Hybrid desktop app with UX to mobile possibilities

With a very extensive application already developed for desktop. A requirement has come up for some mobile (or web) access to publish and have limited responses entered by suppliers regarding our outstanding orders with them - simply what date expected or despatched etc.

Question is - Can this be done using WEB components, say grid or UX and a local PC as a "server" for this publishing and response.
It is neither complex nor large. To remind a couple or three suppliers worldwide of perhaps a few dozen items each currently outstanding daily, such that we can read their responses back into the DT app . More sound than crossing emails and phonecalls.

The answer is YES. Alpha handles this very well.

I have done something like this. I'm using V12 and the WEB app server is installed. Like you, it's a very old design desktop app, I am using dbf files. There is not much traffic so they seem to work OK. SQL would be better as V12 has more support for SQL.

I recommend you watch the video UX_V12--65. You can use the UX with a browser, ipad or phone.

Thanks Ronald and Gary, that is very encouraging.
I dont think I have A5 W - purchased only v12 desktop. That will be an inevitable investment, to renew with AA web included.

Will no doubt have questions later.
Ronald do you have a fixed IP program or service?

    @ Ray

I don't think its worth the expense of purchasing a WAS license for such a simple requirement.
You could easily host a conventional mobile friendly website with a Mysql database and connect to this database from Alpha (using a sql connection string) to synchronise with your dbf files.

There may be other ways of doing this without using AA. I just know what I have done.

Yes, our company has a static IP address. This is helpful for RDP and the WEB. There is probably a different way, but this is what we are doing.

If you do go with AA WEB App Server, you can develop as many WEB apps as you want as you get more familiar with the WEB side.

The cost point is the issue right now.
John's suggestion is where we have gone for now, experimentally. It involves a web site to send the data to in .csv, The SQL tables on the site will be overwritten with the latest uploaded order assessment each morning. The site will filter for whichever supplier is logged in.
The idea is to periodically download the data to interrogate the supplier responses and update the A5 desktop system.
The negative is that it cant really be live, but I suppose the suppliers wouldnt really know that.
