Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Missing the value on the Auto-increment field

    Hi All,

    I ran this code, the auto-increment field is missing or skipping for the first line of my selection. Does any one know why?

    Code:
    FUNCTION PrdAvl_Item_testDlg AS C (vSeriesId as c)

    'vSeriesId = "0000001" 'for test

    	dim vSelectAvl as c
    	dim vAvlTreelist as c  'Clean
    	vAvlTreelist = Sub_GetShapeList(vSeriesId)

    	Delete XdialogStyle
    	dim XDialogStyle as p
    	XDialogStyle.AccentColor = "White"
    	XDialogStyle.Color = "#205+237+253"

    	varC_Avail = ui_dlg_box("Select the Product Shapes ",<<%dlg%
    	{Windowstyle=Gradient Radial Bottom Middle}

    Re: Missing the value on the Auto-increment field

    Not sure.
    I don't use character for autoincrement, preferring numeric. It does look like you have it set up right though.

    None were deleted records?

      And then there is debug(1)

      If varC_Avail = "vSave" then
      debug(1)

      and trace what happens.
      There can be only one.

        Hi

        I still have the same problem and could not fix or find the solution.
        I want to write or forced to have the Auto-increment with xbasic
        Code:
        			tAvl = table.open("prdctavail",FILE_RW_SHARED)
        			query.filter =""
        			query.order ="series_id+shape_id"
        			qry = tAvl.query_create("n","series_id="+quote(vSeriesId)+" .and. shape_id="+quote(cShapeId))
        			rcd = qry.records_get()
        			If rcd = 0 then
        				tAvl.enter_begin()
        					tAvl.series_id = vSeriesId
        					tAvl.shape_id = cShapeId
                                                tAvl.Prdctavail_id = INCREMENT_VALUE(If(PREVIOUS("Prdctavail_id")="","0000000000",previous("Prdctavail_id")))
        				tAvl.enter_end(.t.)
        			end if
        			qry.drop()
        			tAvl.close()
        but the " INCREMENT_VALUE(If(PREVIOUS("Prdctavail_id")="","0000000000",previous("Prdctavail_id"))) "
        or
        " INCREMENT_VALUE(If(PREVIOUS("tAvl.Prdctavail_id")="","0000000000",previous("tAvl.Prdctavail_id"))) "
        has an Error.

        What is wrong on the code?

          Re: Missing the value on the Auto-increment field

          changed the code and it works.

          Code:
          tAvl = table.open("prdctavail",FILE_RW_SHARED)
          'changed
          tAvl.fetch_last()
          vId = tAvl.Prdctavail_id

          If tablemax("prdctavail","Prdctavail_id="+quote(vId),"prdctavail_id) =""
          vAutoId ="000000000"
          else
          vAuotId =INCREMENT_VALUE(tablemax("prdctavail","Prdctavail_id="+quote(vId),"prdctavail_id))
          end if

          			query.filter =""
          			query.order ="series_id+shape_id"
          			qry = tAvl.query_create("n","series_id="+quote(vSeriesId)+" .and. shape_id="+quote(cShapeId))
          			rcd = qry.records_get()
          			If rcd = 0 then
          				tAvl.enter_begin()
          					tAvl.series_id = vSeriesId
          					tAvl.shape_id = cShapeId

                                                  tAvl.Prdctavail_id = vAuotId

          				tAvl.enter_end(.t.)
          			end if
          			qry.drop()
          			tAvl.close()

            Re: Missing the value on the Auto-increment field

            Wouldn't
            vId = tablemax("prdctavail",".t.","prdctavail_id)

            be the same as:
            tAvl = table.open("prdctavail",FILE_RW_SHARED)
            tAvl.fetch_last()
            vId = tAvl.Prdctavail_id

            so that you could use:
            If vId =""
            vAutoId ="000000000"
            else
            vAuotId =INCREMENT_VALUE(vId)
            end if

            Assuming of course that recno() order is the same as ordering by prdctavail_id

              Hi Robin,

              Yes it is same but I already open the table so, tAvl.fetch_last() get same thing.
              I did where the enter(save) code as
              Code:
              	tAvl.enter_begin()
                              tAvl.My_id = If(vId="","00000",INCREMENT_VALUE(vId) )   'shorten than the original
              		tAvl.series_id = vSeriesId
              		tAvl.shape_id = cShapeId
              	tAvl.enter_end(.t.)
