Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: How to filter a second list

Did you take out the code that you put in the onSelect event now that you're using an argument?

Ok for your argument, ArgIdSubtopic, if you set an explicit value you say that it works?

I see you're trying to set the value of the argument using a text control, correct? Can you actually see a value being set in the text control when you select an item in list 1?

Re: How to filter a second list

Yes, the textbox is getting the value. I was following Peter's video in the post. I put the textbox in the footer of the panel and hide it, I tried it not hidden first, but neither way is working. The textbox type changed to numeric (I thought that was the error, because it was first as character), but that didn't work neither.

What about your Id_Subtropic field in the list itself, are they all set to numeric? Try using Transform data type: ToNumber on your Id fields.

Same result, a blank panel, nothing to show.

                - I didn't show you that.
You cannot do that, it will not get updated - values in footers being hidden don't work, put it in a container and hide it.

Hi Peter, I tried putting it everywhere, the textbox is getting the value and display it, but when I go to the panel where the other list is, it is just an empty list, a blank panel.

You need to share the UX - don't worry about data -we need to see what you are doing.

Just had a thought - are you explicitly refreshing the list before showing the panel?

No, it is a docked panel that shows up when clicking (tapping) the button.

Re: How to filter a second list

If I give an explicit value to the list filter, the list shows the correct courses.

                            Example
                            Filter: Id_Materia = 35

But using the argument you provided I get a blank list.

I checked the values are numeric and declared as numeric, the argument is numeric. I checked the tables and Id_Materia is numeric. I even tried in the list to transform data type to number too, and nothing.

                                Pete,

I did a remote session with Elliot yesterday via LogMeIn and didn't see anything abnormal.. I was thinking maybe it had something to do with his list 1 and list 3 and the way he has them set up as far as field types or maybe his argument, but these checked out. I did notice some other events other than the onClick that were defined, but didn't look to heavily into them as I had to drop the session before finishing. It's possible that something else is conflicting with one of the two lists preventing it to filter correctly.

                                Elliot,

Is it possible to create a new UX component and copy/paste only list 1 and list 3 controls then seeing if you are able to filter on a fresh UX? This was something I was going to try yesterday before we DC'd.
