Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How to determine miles from Starting point to Destination

Is it possible in alpha to calculate the miles from a Starting point (Address) to a Destination?
Another scenario is to Have 1 Starting Point, then calculate the miles to a Stop Over point, then from stop over address to the final destination? I am trying to get the total miles from Starting point to the final destination. Thanks!

    Alpha does not support this.

    Google "Distance matrix"

    https://developers.google.com/maps/d...istance-matrix

I have done this and can help but the code is complex.

I would not advise playing with this if you don't understand a little of the Google Map API.

It is kind of supported in the UX List Control goto the video help and enter geography select the two videos in the list control

OK, you can do a proximity search but that does not compute the mileage by road. It depends on the use case which you use. My reading of starting address and total miles to final destination suggests using distance matrix.
If you can accept the whole route being displayed Alpha already has that built in. I could find no way to extract the parts I required. My client did not want Alpha paper route plan as they had sat nav.

Michael was right, it does not compute for the miles between a point of origin to points of destinations, destinations could be 1 or more and I would lie to add the miles from point of origin >>>>>>. It does however show on a google map control some miles radius according to the list control geography videos.

Check out the video's on AA re Google Maps and Directions direct from the Google API - the value you need to get is distance value, this video show you what comes out of the box with AA as is.

Hi Michael - yep I know where it is - I just don't have the time to mess about with it for Jetson - you may want to fix the link above as its broken to https://developers.google.com/maps/d...istance-matrix

I think only Jetson can do it. I gave a code example but the matrix is just that so you get A to B and every other possible permutation returned. Only the person who knows what results they want and how the user will experience them can code this. She will need to take a multistep approach and call the API multiple times.

Was'nt able to do it yet. How do we convert 02.5 mi to a bumber in Javascript, I googled but it seems that the functions to convert a text to a number is not functioning if the source of the text is like this - directions.routes(0).legs(n).distance.text, the output of this for example is 04.5 mi i have used the parseint and number functions in Javascript but it produces an error in conversion e.g. parseint(directions.routes(0).legs(n).distance.text) or number(directions.routes(0).legs(n).distance.text) does not work. Any idea on how to convert directions.routes(0).legs(n).distance.text to Number? Thanks!

                      Edit:
I am able to convert it by parseFloat(directions.routes(0).legs(n).distance.text)

This is a screenshot of my Method.
I put it into a repeating section so I can display all results.
At the top, I display the cheapest.

                        substr(Distance ,0,at("km",Distance ) - 2) is the code used.
