Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Error - No Records in Query

    Hi All,

    I have this code, open a form with filter and it was working fine until Last week.

    I did test on the AlphaSport and works fine without any errors.

    Code:
    vBrwRcd = parentform.CONTROL_BROWSE1.current_record()

    'Build a Query before open a form
    	query.filter = " "
    	'If it is same table then can be found by record number
    	query.filter ="recno() = "+s_quote(vBrwRcd)
    	query.order = "recno()"

    'replace variables in the filter with their actual values
    query.filter = convert_expression(query.filter,"V")
    'ui_msg_box("test",query.filter)

    'Open the layout_type showing just the records that satisfy the filter
    DIM layout_name as c
    layout_name = "invoice"	'My_formname

    Form = form.viewQueried(layout_name,query.filter, query.order,"","center","center" )

    Some reason, I kept getting the Error message, "No Records in Query".

    The other Test was, I created an xdialog with ActionScript.
    1) Create an xDialogBox(*Select a job) and
    2) Open form or Browse layout with filter.
    Which runs same an Error.

    Some reason, I kept getting the Error message. Any one knows why or what is made this error?

    Re: Error - No Records in Query

    Form is a reserved word.

    Form = form.viewQueried(layout_name,query.filter, query.order,"","center","center" )

    may not be the issue since it works in AlphaSports for you but definitely not good practice. What happens if you use

    Frm = form.viewQueried(layout_name,query.filter, query.order,"","center","center" )

    ?

    Note: I tested your original script in a small database here and it works with only modification to the browse object name and the form name. I would guess that either your set is corrupt or possibly a field rule somewhere is causing a problem. Really don't have any solid ideas. A sample database from you which demonstrates the problem would help.

        Re: Error - No Records in Query

        Hi All,

        I have same error again so searching about what cause the same problem.

        I found some strange condition, somebody wrote a filter expression in my form's property. I did not type the Filter Expression on Form's property.
        form_filter_expression.jpg

        I have the filters on several buttons or events such as

        Code:
        query.filter ="Invoice_id="+quote(vInvId)
        and Print or find form. After completed the Print or open a form action, I do not have a cleaning filters in the codes.

        Did the A5 - " Query.filter " write a filter into my form's property? I do not doubt it but I have no Idea why it is happening.

          John

          If you filter a form with a query and then switch to design mode, the filter property will be saved with that query.

          You'll have to watch for that and manually correct it.

            Thank you Al,

            I think I have to use other variable name instead "query.filter".

              I'm not sure that will make a difference.

                One of the parameters in the form.viewqueried method will set the isbasefilter flag to .t. by default - try setting it to .f. so the filter can be released with a show_all() button.
