Uploading files from a UX

Could someone explain what the highlighted part of the help means.

How do you set the security (Alpha Security I assume) of a folder on the remote server.
I have set the remote folder's permission to "full controll", but I don't think that's what the help refers to.

What I am trying to do is to design a UX that allows users to send emails (using Sparkpost) and attach a file from their local computer
I have been successful of sending the email, but the link for the attachment does not open the file.
However, the attached file is successfully sent to and saved on the remote server.

Open Web Security from the Web Projects Control Panel. Double-Click on the Page Security icon. It opens to a "Page and Folder Permissions" dialog. Make sure the folder you're after is there. If not... create it and set permissions.

Or, making sure you have the same folder established in your development project. Right-click on that folder... choose Folder Security and set Permissions.

Then publish that folder. See if that helps.

Thanks, I was able to do as you suggested and still am not able to download the file.
I'm sure I'm missing something very simple
I have tried so many different times tonight that my test emails are going to spam and now the link is not even appearing on the test emails.
I think I'll call it a night and try again tomorrow,

Try shutting down the server... and then starting again.

I tried again, even added an images folder
Set "uploadedFiles" folder and "Images" folder to "Allow all files in folder" in page and folder security
Published security files
Did a full publish
Restarted remote server
Restarted always up
Sent email, image was on server
After receiving email, only a small x was visible (no image)
I know I'm doing some little something incorrect

I am missing a step ..... and/or going about this all wrong .....

The way I have things currently set up, my users can send an email successfully and can upload a file from their local machine, successfully

What I need to do is allow users to send an email with a file from their local machine as an attachment

or

Allow users to upload a file from their local machine to the server, then send an email with a link to the that file on the server

???

That's why I was interested in seeing a link to an uploaded file on your server. I was interested in see what the response is when executing the link.

I don't see a procedural issue with what you want to do. Upload a file to the server, include that file in a SparkPost email. Or... in a link within the email. My tests show no issues.

Send me a test link that I can run in a browser.

Yes, that is correct

Ok... now I get it. You need to build the correct link, a correctly formatted link, into your email message. For example, here is my ms.message_html assignment...

ms.message_html = "Here is the <b>information</b> you requested.<br><br><a href=\"http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/PDF/Test3.pdf\">Click here to download</a>"

Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address or name... e.g. www.myserver.com, of your server.

All I have been successful in doing is two actions from one button

1. Sending an email
2. Uploading a file from my local machine to the remote server

What I assume I am missing is how to attach the uploaded file to the sent email
or
Generating and including in the sent email the link to the file on the remote server

If I understand, this would be hard coded into the UX and would limit users from sending different attachments.
I will work on this.
