    Default Got a Laptop Problem

    Good Morning...

I had to get a new laptop this week. Reinstalling... everything.

    I tried to install A5V12 - without success. So, I re-installed - without a=success.

The installer seemed to go just fine. When I built an icon to access the ALPHA5.EXE, I got error messages upon error messages.

This laptop is an HP X360, 500GB 6GB with Windows 10 Home. Could the HOME be the issue ? Didn't expect this issue.

As always, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Would I have this same problem if I installed A5V11 ?

    Lar

Want to share what sort of error messages you saw or should we just guess? Instead of the shortcut (icon) can you open Alpha from the start menu? Did you install Alpha as administrator (not sure whether that is an option with Windows Home version)?

Stan, here are the error messages I get when I try to run Alpha:
    * The program can't start because A5DBSESS.dll is missing...
    * The program can't start because A5ENGINE.dll is missing...
    * The program can't start because A5DesktopUL.dll is missing...
    * The program can't start because A5XBASIC.dll is missing...

    Any insight ?

Those should all install into the Alpha program directory, if they don't it is likely a permissions issue of some sort.

Check in Windows explorer. If the names appear in the directory most likely the .dll's are not registering correctly.
