Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Drag Drop List in Report Tab

Have changed my fonts a number of times and finally returned back to the "factory settings" for all categories. In the Report tab when I try to view the "Drag Drop " list all of the lines in the Drag and Drop list are partially hidden and the last line in any category is almost totally hidden. This applies to all of these catagories "System","Calculated fields", and the actual fields of the Table that I was using. I can see the words if I hover my mouse over the partially exposed word but it is really annoying. Have tried everything I can think of other than reinstalling Alpha. Everything else displays properly in the report designer. Would love to figure out how to get the drag and drop list to behave as it used to. Thanks for any help.

Did you also reset the xdialog box font? That's probably what the drag-drop list actually is.

Just checked and reset the xdialog box font back to the factory setting (tahoma 10) and the same constricted list still is there. That wasn't it, but thanks for your reply. Anything else?

Re: Drag Drop List in Report Tab

Just checked the fonts list in the xdialog box font and it itself has the list in the same manner as the Drag Drop list box does. That is, the list is displayed one font over the next font such that the 2nd font is half displayed. Is that at all helpful in diagnosing this problem?

Check your system settings to ensure that the measurement system is set to US, not metric. That seems to have caused issues for some other users.

Stan, Not sure where to check the measurement system. Any place where I see values it says inches, not something metric. Is there one particular place where the measurement system is stipulated? Thanks.

Windows settings, I should have been more specific.

Under Win 7 it is Control Panel (windows), Region and Language, Additional Settings, Measurement System.

I am running Windows 10 but did find the Measurement system and it is set to US and not Metric. Thanks for your help.

I suppose about the only thing left is a reinstall. I suggest you uninstall, manually delete the system registry entries, and then reinstall.

That is my thoughts also. Not looking forward to doing it though. Thanks again.

Searched the Registry using Regedit for "Alpha" and found about 15 hits. Is there any particular one that you think should be removed?
