Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: My grids are so ugly

when you open the grid on the pop up look at the left hand side all the way down, uncheck the box it says use the parent grid style, something like that.

    https://www.screencast.com/t/4ABBOxeMvchU

also why not set the properties of the ux to project style?

Well, I think I'm making progress. I changed the setting as you suggested and it worked sort of. I do not have the mobileBlue style which is good, but I lost a lot of the GrBlue style.

Note: This is a mobile app that runs on both mobile devices as well as the desktop. This grid is only available when running this app on the desktop.

Also, you can see what I mean about the column title not lining up with the column. I'd like to have the titles centered above each column.

Thanks so much as I'm definitely making progress!

Re: My grids are so ugly

there is still css conflict. this is not a good looking grid by any means.
the css for the ux should match css for the grid otherwise you get blanched effect which is what i am seeing, faraway from MA.
if the css match then you don't have to worry, the header column title is designed to be center of the column. since there is some conflict, it is not doing it.
worst case scenario if you have teamviewer, let me in, i can fix it for you then you will be on your way.

may be unchecking the check box on the popup removed the css and left the grid naked, recheck again and see if the grid looks better.

            Gandhi,

Thanks for hanging in there to help. I've attached what may be my final attempt. I opted to stay with the MobileBlue and with the formatting I was able to do, I find it acceptable for what I'm doing. The last problem I am having is the alignment of the checkbox columns. It appears that the check boxes are left justified and I have not been able to figure out how to move them toward or into the center of the column. Everything I tried doesn't seem to work.

this is much better, mobBlue are better in devices than gradientBlue.
              anyway to center the check box go to cell inline property and change it to align center;
this is the result one with and the next without

Thank you so much. There are so many settings and places to look. I remember looking at that location but it didn't register. Finally, a grid I can live with.

Thanks again to all for your help and patience.

                  Pete,
Ronald's Grid appears to be an editable grid. Does the UX LIST easily support in-place editing like that?

There have been discussions of in-place editing for the UX LIST, but doesn't that take a fair amount of extra work?

In a sense it doesn't matter. Build 2999 is being used so the List /Detail View with it's genies and builders can't apply.

                      Rich,

This is the first grid I built against a MySQL table. After I finished this Grid, I needed to edit about 100 records. The edit was to check one of the check boxes. From a data entry standpoint, it was extremely fast. I scrolled to the last record and start checking the records that needed to be checked. I just kept scrolling and checking. About every 5 records, I would press the submit button to save the changes. I thought is was great.

Re: My grids are so ugly

Our users have to work with lists of names in one of our desktop applications all day long. They get very annoyed if we don't put as many lines into the list as possible or if we don't put the relevant columns of data in the list. When we convert this particular app to Alpha, the users will want to see vertical spacing on the grids/lists to be very compact, like this:
                          https://www.screencast.com/t/OnZydkWgcdD

It would be nice to have AA style sheets that replicate the space saving efficiency of our desktop forms, that were created in a different RAD environment.

How do I import these css's into alpha and show it in css options along with alpha inbuilt css?(iphone etc.)
