Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    bug in sample splitview expanding treeview phone menu provided by alpha

    I think there is a bug in sample splitview expanding treeview(phones). It does not work when its embedded in another ux(thats a big bug).
    steps to reproduce
    1 create sample splitview expanding treeview(works standalone)
    1 create another ux and embedd above ux(menu css is off bug)

      I don't see an issue. Since the UX is a template it will be easy to create a sample. Please do so and post it. This is a screenshot of the embedded TreeMenu in a UX... looks ok.

        Further, your running this in an a5w page. Why? This is a mobile app. Have to say Amit... you are all over the map with this stuff. Slow down... consider what you're doing.

        I'm not saying there isn't an issue... but you need to post a sample.

          Hi David. I am not using a5w page for my mobile app. I will post the sample. I tried to test using a5w just to quick test to send screenshot(anyway it does not work in mobile app on my android) Is this menu working for you when embedded in login mobile component? I need this UX enabled/displayed in login UX(logout panel from alpha sample) once user logs in(please use out of box mobile login sample that enables empty logout sample panel card but replace that logout panel content with this embedded ux), this UX template is working for me when used standalone but not when embedded in entry point login UX(inside logout panel created by alpha)

            The issues mentioned before related to bulk editing, grid are completely different(they address different issues in the project). The current issue is using splitview menu inside login UX after login in second panel card as embedded UX in phonegap android app. I will post a sample in 15 minutes.

              sampledemo.WebProjects.zipsampledemo.WebProjects.zip

              I really hope its working for someone else I need to change design, As I said I can not dump entire functionality of Login, player and coach in a single big UX. I need multiple ux(
              login UX-reset, forgetpassword, register compoents in single ux)
              single Player ux-many functionalities with panel cards and save submit
              single coach ux- many functionalities with panel cards and save submit

              I want to embed player and coach ux in login ux and enable them in 2 different panel cards after login based on whether user is player or coach.
              Now after login successful user will see either player ux or coach ux(and then split menu clicks will bring different panels for those ux.
              Ideally this should work but split menu css is off right now in embedded UX.

                Re: bug in sample splitview expanding treeview phone menu provided by alpha

                There is lots of stuff at play here. Your ViewBox Menu UX is built using the Alpha style. I think I read somewhere that only the Alpha style is appropriate for the ViewBox control... although I'm not positive about that... and not sure if that's still valid even if it once was.

                Your parent UX is using iOS and you've set the Embedded Object control to "Use master style". This is important to know.

                You're also pre-rendering both components. I'm noting this only because it's a significant property. This is stuff that needs to be known when issues are encountered.

                In the Child UX Properties, there is a setting for "Allow style to be changed at run-time." You do not have this checked. Have a look at the in-line description for this property.

                Now, with allowing the Child UX style to be changed, the Child UX renders better... but it's still an Alpha style built component... and so an iOS style is now being applied to some aspects of the ViewBox that you don't want. E.g. The Menu choices have a text-shadow.

                So, in the ViewBox control, CSS tab, add text-shadow:none; to the item class... as in...

                Code:
                .item {
                position: relative;
                padding: 6px 12px;
                background: $color;
                cursor: pointer;
                line-height: 26px;
                color: $foreColor;
                text-shadow:none;
                }
                This will, at least, clear up the Menu selections. You can root out others as you go along. Here's a working version of your sample.

                Overall, it's not a bug that I can see... it just needs to be properly configured.

                I'm using today's pre-release build, 4438.

                  Thank you so much David.
                  This fixed it!!

                  As soon as I changed to alpha style it started working. If I use IOS it screws up the menu...
                  I need to start looking at all these properties when I encounter issues(as there are many properties) like you(I am not a master of alpha like you)
                  Thanks again.
                  Now I can move to core functions(login and basic components are good)
