Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    using state or session object in phone gap app using alpha anywhere

    below works in browser but in phonegap android app with persistent login shows as undefined and session variable also works in browser but pg app shows blank screen
    if(typeof {dialog.object} != 'undefined') {
    //your code here
    var stateData = {dialog.object}.getStateInfo();

    //Read the 'myvar1' property from the state info object
    var x = {dialog.object}.stateInfo['myvar2'];
    alert(x);
    }

    I want to set additional variables after login/persistent login(user group and other info and use it to activate/deactivate panelcards) but its only working in browser but not on mobile pg app.
    How do I immediately get user group after persistent login and store it in session or state variable and use it for further needs in js/server side?

    Re: using state or session object in phone gap app using alpha anywhere

    persistent login is not working for us because of following scenario
    I just do not want to set one panel but rather based on current user group I want to activate player panel or coach panel and in persistant login client side script I am not able to get current user group. (try using persistent login mobile sample provide by ALPHA and try to redirect to panel after second peristant login based on token but by adding additional check of user group and activate panel based on token and usergroup.

    {dialog.object}.panelSetActive('PANEL_APPLICATION',false);

    if(token != '' ) {
    //token is present and not blank
    //(we don't know if the token is valid or has not expired as the token cannot be decoded on the client-side)
    //(we will only find out if the token is valid when an ajax callback is made to the server)

    //since token was present you can take the user directly to the application panel [PANEL_APPLICATION].
    //must also add the token to the UX state object so that it gets sent back on all Ajax callbacks

    {dialog.object}.stateInfo['token'] = token;

    {dialog.object}.panelSetActive('PANEL_APPLICATION',false);

    //TIP: If you want to implement a client-side login, you could take the user to the client-side login panel
    //rather than to the [PANEL_APPLICATION] panel. If the user then successfully authenticates at the client-side login panel
    //you would then set focus to the [PANEL_APPLICATION] Panel.
    } else {
    //token not found or is blank - user must log in
    {dialog.object}.panelSetActive('PANEL_LOGIN');

    }

      I finally figured out after spending good amount of time....
      This is in xbasic of persistent login plus this function does not get called after subsequent requests so I added another workaround for that on text change(filled text with user group)

      usergroup=Context.Security.GetUserRoles()
      if (usergroup = "Players") then
      jsOut= logMessages + "{dialog.object}.panelSetActive('PANELCARD_3');"
      else
      jsOut= logMessages + "{dialog.object}.panelSetActive('PANELCARD_4');"
      end if

        I am still looking for some video or document that explains how to use session and state variables globally in phonegap alpha app.(no time to R&D)

          Re: using state or session object in phone gap app using alpha anywhere

          Did you ever find a solution to this I am running in to a similar issue and need to decide what variables to use throughout the app. I can use a cookie to hold most of the information I need and security seems to be working on client side for persistent login. My main need is to filter lists based off an employee number tied to the user that is logged in. I can achieve this with a hybrid web app where i still have access to the cookie however cookies are not the most secure way to do this and not our end goal. As soon as I deploy it to phonegap I lose the cookie and the app can no longer filter on the employee id. We do not use session variables anywhere in the app and do not plan on it. Has anyone tried and succeeded in adding variables to the JWT and accessing them when needed. Willing to try any work around or solution.
