Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    TabbedUI and password recovery/reset

    I have a TabbedUI component that I can't get to work right.
    I am using the built in component login part, but when the component runs it does not show the password recovery or password reset. I have the project security settings set to allow for password recovery via an email address and the setting is in place for password reset. Neither of those show on the Tabbed UI, just the login link in the upper right corner. Clicking on the login link only allow for login, but no reset and no recovery options.

    Can someone point me in the right direction to get this working?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    The integrated login in the properties of the tabbedUI?

      The UI properties are all set correctly...but I don't see anything in the properties that has do with password recovery and/or reset

        Yes, that was why I was asking, to easily get what you're looking for you may want to consider creating a stand alone login component (create new UX - login) and use that. The stand alone component provides for the features you want, the integrated login isn't easily setup to do that, unless there's somethign I don't know (wouldn't be the first).

          That is what I ended up doing. Then I added the component as a button as a menu. Seems crazy to to do that, but at least it is working.

            Instead of using integrated login then a separate login why not just use stand alone login then redirect to tabbed ui without the integrated login .
            Is that acceptable

              I could have done that and have that set up for other sites, but this particular one I wanted to keep it all on one page.
              So there is the login link at the top right and a button for password recovery/reset. Not ideal, but it works.

                One thing I've noticed with the TabbedUI login is that at least from my experience it doesn't allow you to save your username or password. If I used the standalone login UX built from the template and launch the application through that my username and password is stored locally and auto filled. I have not been able to duplicate this behavior with the integrated login of the TabbedUI.

                  You can do exactly the same, use the login link to open the usual login and come back to the tabbed ui page, just like what they did and have all the functionality. You just have to add the link in the head content, it is just a simple one line code.

                    I have a different issue. I am using a tabbed UI, with a separate login component. However, when I logout, I redirect to the login.a5w page, and instead of it exiting the ui and going to the stand alone a5w page, it actually logs out, but stays in the tabbed ui, and displays the login.a5w within the home poage of the tabbed ui. Not what I want.

                      In a different app with a separate login page similar to what you are talking about I have this setup.
                      In the TabbedUI properties, Header text I have this: <%a5 a5w_include("header.a5w")%> which call a simple a5w page that looks like this:

                      Screen Shot 2017-08-24 at 1.14.24 PM.png

                      In the header.a5w page there is this line:
                      ? "Logged in: " + session.compcode + " " + session.fullname + " " + "<a href="Logout.a5w">(Logout)</a> "

                      Clicking on the logout button open the logout.a5w page which clears all session variables and executes the logout command and takes the person back in the index page. The code looks like this:

                      a5ws_logoutuser(session,request,response)
                      session.clear()
                      response.redirect("index.a5w")

                        Dr Gary, I have seen exactly the same thing you are explaining. The standalone login is displayed inside the Tabbedui rather than on its own page. I thought it was just me!
                        While I don't have the answer, I can say I have only experienced this while running the WAS, but never on when running on the IIS server.

                        Perhaps this is a bug that has been introduced at some point as I never used to see this behavior. Of course, creating a reproducible test case is going to be difficult.

                          It turns out that the exact same code in a button in the button pane of the tabbed UI results in the problem as we described above. But put it in the header as Mike said and it works as I hoped and expected.

                          Thanks guys!

                            So, in the user defined head section, I have this .. which has worked for years until recently:

                            Code:
                            <script type="text/javascript">
                            function noBack(){window.history.forward();}
                            noBack();
                            window.onload=noBack;
                            window.onpageshow=function(evt){if(evt.persisted)noBack();}
                            window.onunload=function(){void(0);}
                            </script>

                            <table><tr><td><b>Logged In:</b> <%a5 ?session.current_user_fname %>&nbsp;<%a5 ?session.current_user_lname %>&nbsp;<font color=#800000>(<%a5 ?crlf_to_comma(Context.Security.GetUserRoles()) %>)</font>&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="logout.a5w"><font color=#000099>(Logout)</font>
                            <font color=#ffffff></td></tr></table>
                            After the recent updates, I've been seeing the above behavior where the logout component shows up in the TabbedUI.

                            This is the normal Login Page ...

                            Login.jpg

                            Once Logged In, this is the TabbedUI ...

                            LoggedIn.jpg

                            Now, when a session times out, I will see this in the WAS (but not running in IIS) ...

                            Logged Out In TabbedUI.jpg

                            What the heck am I supposed to do with this? And build 4546-4949 does not fix it!

                              i don't know if this is causing any problems you are experiencing:
                              the third line should be
                              window.onLoad = noBack();
                              and the fourth line may be
                              window.onpageshow=function(evt){if(evt.persisted){noBack();}}
                              finally, not the least (while not contributing to any error) you don't need a table for a single line of display, in my opinion.

                              to make your code more readable and for error checking it can be written as:
                              Code:
                              <script type ="text/javascript">
                              function noBack(){
                              window.history.forward();
                              }

                              noBack();

                              window.onload = noBack();

                              window.onpageshow = function(evt){
                                    if(evt.persisted) {
                                         noBack();
                                          }
                                     }

                              window.onunload = function(){
                              void(0);
                              }
                              </script>

                              <b>Logged In:</b> <%a5 ?session.current_user_fname %>&nbsp;<%a5 ?session.current_user_lname %>&nbsp;<font color=#800000>(<%a5 ?crlf_to_comma(Context.Security.GetUserRoles()) %>)</font>&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="logout.a5w"><font color=#000099>(Logout)</font>
                              <font color=#ffffff>
                              and, i am not sure naBack() function is foolproof, it has failed before. there is no guaranteed function to stop going back as far as i know.

                              edit: if you are not sure about the javascript code you have written and want to check for any errors, you can paste your code in jslint (jslint.com) and it will spit out the errors and you can edit your code accordingly. (javascript won't kill you after testing in jslint)
