Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Amyuni Driver Issues - help needed

    Hi,

    I've tried everything to get this to install. It just refuses to install on my system.

    I am running Windows 7 (64-bit) with AA v12.4.4.5 Build 4491-4932. I'm getting the following errors when I try to install the Amyuni printer driver using "InstallAmyuniPrinters.exe":

    amyuni issue.PNG

    I've tried running it as Administrator. I've tried running it in various compatibility modes. I've also tried installing the Amyuni converter 500 trial program from their website, and it also fails to install. I've checked all the other posts on this message board which mentions Amyuni - no help in any of them. Nothing mentions the Error Code 123, not even on the Amyuni website.

    Can anyone offer any assistance ?

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Is there a 32 bit version?

      The Amyuni printer driver should be installed as part of the normal Alpha program install. Have you tried reinstalling AA?
      There can be only one.

        yes, several times. It seems to install without any errors, however the Amyuni printer driver is not installed.

          The Amyuni inf file seems to cater for 32-bit as well as 64-bit OSs. See the excerpt below:

          [AmyuniDocumentConverter500.NTx86]
          "Amyuni Document Converter 500"=Install_32,LPTENUM\AMYUNI-AmyuniDocumentConverter500

          [AmyuniDocumentConverter500.NTamd64]
          "Amyuni Document Converter 500"=Install_64,LPTENUM\AMYUNI-AmyuniDocumentConverter500

          [Install_32]
          CopyFiles=ACFPDF_32
          DataSection=ACFPDF_DATA
          RegisterDlls=CDINTFDLL_REG

          [Install_64]
          CopyFiles=ACFPDF_64
          DataSection=ACFPDF_DATA
          RegisterDlls=CDINTFDLL64_REG

          I tried a clean install of AA on my Windows 10 (64-bit) desktop. It installed the Amyuni driver correctly. So I don't think it is a 32 bit vs 64 bit problem. It seems to be something with my Windows 7 laptop setup. Not sure what it could be.....

            Try an install outside of the Program Files folder.

              Ended up getting a new laptop with Windows 10 installed. (my old one was on the way out anyway).

              Installed AA from scratch, and the Amyuni driver installed without any issues.

                I can't get away with that excuse any more. Tried it with a helicopter but she noticed.

                  I had a malfunctioning printer driver today. If anyone runs into this problem again I found the only way that worked for me was to open an Interactive Window on the Alpha server and then enter:

                  ?A5_InstallAmyuni()

                  Wait for it to reply .t.

                    Thanks Steve. Your solution with the interactive window worked quickly and seamlessly for me. Simply reinstalling AA on a W10 system didn't work.

                      FWIW - I have had success with running Alpha in Admin mode (right click the program) and then printed something.

                      Does a magically reset of permissions.

                      Exit Alpha and then return to normal mode.
