Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Embeded Browse Alternating Row Colors

Been awhile since I have been on here but I cannot seem to get this to work.

Using the properties and then selecting the "Row Color Properties" I cannot get any of the Row Colors to stay enabled mush less get two of them to enable.

The Examples say to enable 2 row colors and set both to 1 for the number of rows. Tried that as well with no luck.

I have even tried using if(mod(mrecno(),2)=1,"Transparent","Solid") in the Fill properties with no luck.

I am basically trying to get an embedded brows to alternate row colors like you can on a report.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Probably best to post a simple example using your browse.

Ok, but it is nothing complex.

        Embeded Browse Alternating Row Colors
are you changing the color in the original browse before embedding it into the form, i am assuming you have defined a browse then embedding it.

i also tried with embedding a browse in the form by defining the browse and it seems to work. (obviously i am in version 11)

The original embedded browse was just using the embedded browse control in the forms design view and the columns are directly linked to the table. No separately built browse.

I have since created a "named browse layout" and it is possible to get it to alternate row colors but only 2.

In either case the "Row Color Properties" will not keep the "Enabled" check box checked.

I can live with the "named browse layout" although I am not going to go through all the trouble of making it look like it is part of the theme's stylesheet.

i see that, but if i save the form and reopen it the browse is still good whether the checkbox says enabled or not.

Yes a "named browse layout" still works with the alternating row colors even though the check boxes un-check themselves. Still can only do two colors but that is all I need.
Must be a bug in V11 and knowing Alpha, if it is, it is still there in their latest version.

Ok, it is a bug in V11. Opened up another workspace in V11 and tried with same results.

Opened it up in V10.5 and I can set the browse's anyway I want and it sticks.

So it worked in V10.5 and they broke it for V11.

What is your current build for v11? Mine is 3788-4187 and the row colors do work. I think it was a beta version, if you can't find the download, I have a copy I can send you.

You are way out Preston. The last release has a disclaimer, but I have found it works OK.
                      For me anyway.
As always, backup and try the new one good buddy.

Thanks, Got it installed but it dd not fix the problem. When I ran the installer file it updated my V11. I did not uninstall my V11 and then do a new install so I do not know if that would make a difference.

Anyway, V10.5 works for setting the Embeded Browse Alternating Row Colors so I just open up in that and set them.
