Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Page Layout not working...

    Hi All...

So I've had a page layout that has worked forever. Now it just sits at "Working.." with animation going round.

I've even created a new simple Page Layout with one UX on it. The UX works fine by itself. When I load the page layout just sits there with that animation. I can see it being anything I'm doing as it was working prior. The only change I made to the original Page Layout was add a new Component to it. The test on I put a single component and the same issue exists.

    I'm running 12.4.5.1 Build 4642 4981.

Can anyone else confirm that they are having a similar issue?

    Thanks
    Joe

Now, back to reality. If the ux works by itself, then the page layout must be at fault. Can you post the source for the page? Should be easy to spot the problem. Are you calling the page with arguments or session variables setting a filter on the ux?

        Re: Page Layout not working...

        Excuse me???

It worked prior with no significant changes other than adding another component. If that was the issue then removing the component would resolve the issue. It didn't. Nor does creating a Page Layout with only one component. Both have the same issue.

No arguments on the page layout. Very simple layout. Tab Control with a component on each tab. It is used for management of the system. I tried to make much of it data driven and not static drop downs. This way changes were easy to do on the fly. Even down to the zip code lookup table.

This is the one with a single component on it no Tab Control...same symptoms.

I have a very similar issue. A page layout with a tab on it with several tabpanes. Been working forever. I built a new UX containing a grid component that works just fine when I do a Live Preview of the UX. When I create a new tabpane with the UX on the page layout, I get "Working...".

I'm running v4.5.1 Version 12.4.5.1 Build 4642 System Addins: 4981 and the issue still exists. Even if I create a new page layout from scratch with a simple test component. I think it may have been fixed in a newer build than I have but have not upgraded to confirm/test.

Created a brand new page layout. Put a tabpane containing a UX that is working on the other page layout on it. The new page layout is not working either. Just give a "Working...." message and sits there.

I tried that as well and is the same result on my current version. Did you update past the version I posted?

haven't tried that yet. Next on list to try. Was hoping for another solution since updates are a pain.
