Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Web Content Super Control Preventing Login

    I have embed a web page in my A5 software. this page has a url like:
    https://abc123.com:9291/gd-portal/login/
    I can log in from the browser with no issues, but, I cannot login when I attempt it from within the A5 software. I get the following message "Invalid username or password"

    How do I get around this?

    Edit.

    I just tried it and it did work as an interactive web page using the login page for an email account under zimbra. There was an error of some sort about a script on the page not finding something.

    Code:
    https://sadlib.static-app.synacor.com/client/insight/ad.html?adunit=inbox&initialCallTimestamp=1513706716&adRefreshCount=0&refreshTimeStamp=1513706716

      Hey Stan! Would you believe when you say "interactive web page", I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to? :) I know. :(

      Do you have any suggestion as to how to go about allowing the software users to utilize this page without showing them the address of the page. The office knows it, but the end users, the staff, should not see it.

        Interactive as opposed to static. A login page would interact with the user allowing some further activity once logged in. A static page would simply display some content.

        I don't do much with connecting Alpha and the web so I don't know why your login page won't process the input into the web content supercontrol correctly.

            Hi Nigel,
            I found the supercontrol not to work well. I use a modeless dialog with an activex contol. Here is an example to UPS tracking website.

            Code:
            'SCRIPT URL VARIABLES
                dim myurl.object as p
                dim myurl_url as C
                myurl_url ="https://www.ups.com/WebTracking/track?loc=en_US"
                myurl.class = "shell.explorer.2"

            ' DIALOG
                dim dlg_body as C
                dim dlg_code as C
                dim dlg_title as C="SHIPPING EVENTS GROUP"
                DIM SHARED varC_result as C
                dim dlg1 as C
                dim dlg2 as C
                dim vc_H as C="49"
                dim vc_W as C="227"

            'THIS IS THE BODY FOR THE WEBSITE DIALOG
            dlg1=<<%dlg1%
            {startup=init}{background=hsi dgray}{font=arial,10,b}{position=0,.3}{nocaption}{lf=.5}

            {endregion};

               dlg_body=dlg1+vc_W+","+vc_H+dlg2

               dlg_code=<<%code%

            'START UP OF WEB PAGE DIALOG CODE
                IF a_dlg_button = "init"
                 ' show_embedded(local_variables())
                  a_dlg_button = ""

                            myurl.object.navigate(shellExplorer_url(myurl_url))
                        on error goto 0
                        end if
                    hourglass_cursor(.f.)
                END IF

            'CLOSE
            	IF a_dlg_button="event_close"
            		ui_modeless_dlg_close("SHIPPING EVENTS GROUP")
            	END IF

                 %code%

            'GENERATE THE DIALOG
                varC_result = ui_modeless_dlg_box(dlg_title,dlg_body,dlg_code)
