Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    progress bar when doing search or process that takes more than 6 to 8 seconds in mobile app

    How do I show progress bar/progress image when doing list or grid search or process that takes more than 6 to 8 seconds in mobile app built in alpha?
    Same applies to web based browsing of same mobile app(published on url). Right now when user clicks on search as there is no progress bar(like amazon, triviago where it shows progress rounded image until search/image gets loaded) user tries to click multiple times on same search click as he does not see progress.

    Im in a hurry but know this answer

    you need to set a div within List with an unique id say "Listboxloader"

    var listObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('Listbox'); // Pointer to the List Box
    listObj._deselectAll(); // Remove content in List before displaying loader
    var setinnerHTML = '<img src="assets/loading/Eclipse-load.gif" id="loading-indicator" style= "height:25px"> Searching ... </img>'; // you will need to have a GIF called load.gif
    var ele = jQuery('#Listboxloader');
    var elepointer = ele[0];
    A5.u.element.setContent(elepointer,setinnerHTML);

    {dialog.object}.getControl('QUESTIONS1').searchList({searchMode : 'auto'}); // Do search

    sorry for the rushed answer but im out for the rest of the day, but i thought this would help

        Alex,

        Will this work for grids - if so (hopefully), what modifications are needed for the code you provided.

            The grid does not have a getPointer method like the UX.

            On the event of the search for example clientsideevent "canQuickSearch" put the following code

            var innerHTML= 'Searching ...';
            var ele = $('{Grid.ComponentName}.QUICKSEARCH.SUBMITBUTTON'); // orginal code was var ele = $('GRID1.QUICKSEARCH.SUBMITBUTTON');
            ele.innerHTML = innerHTML;

              Use the {Grid.ComponentName} placeholder in place of GRID1

                  To further make this complete and of course look great use the following code when performing a search in a list.

                  Create a Javascript function
                  Code:
                  function listboxSearch(){
                  	var listObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('LISTID'); // Pointer to the List Box
                  	listObj._deselectAll(); // Remove any selections the List has

                  	var setinnerHTML = '<img src="assets/loading/Eclipse-load.gif" id="loading-indicator" style= "height:25px"> Searching ... </img>'; // Set loader image or svg
                  	var ele = jQuery('.LISTBOXQUESTIONS');
                  	A5.u.element.setContent(ele[0],setinnerHTML); In first

                  	for (i = 1; i < ele.length; i++) {
                      	A5.u.element.setContent(ele[i],"");
                  	} //loop through and remove all other content within the list that may of been showing prior to search.

                          {dialog.object}.getControl('LISTID').searchList({searchMode : 'auto'}); //Do Search
                  }

                  Put in onclick Event of the Search button
                  Code:
                  listboxSearch();
                  Put in the onKeyPress event on the textbox which users make there search in

                  Code:
                  if (event.keyCode==13) { // enter key
                      listboxSearch();
                  }
                  The List Layout must contain a class called LISTBOXQUESTIONS as in my example

                  HTML Code:
                  <div class= "LISTBOXQUESTIONS" style="display: table; width: 100%;">
                  	<div style="display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle;">
                  	{Question}
                  	</div>
                  	<div style="display: table-cell; width: 40px; text-align: right; vertical-align: middle;">
                  		<img src="{images.dialog.listNav}" />
                  	</div>
                  </div>
